Hi everyone monarch have agreed to pay full compensation for our flight. The flight was ZB684 Manchester to Sharm El Sheikh on 13th September 2012. I just used the guide on this website and went via flight delays. However they are saying we must cover the £140 court costs? Is this normal in a case they have lost? I just feel why should i pay when they have admitted they are in the wrong?0

Attended Liverpool CC today for court management. Monarch failed to attend, nor submit any defence to court. Strange since the two cases before mine had a barrister in attendance from Monarch
and cases due to be heard in the afternoon.
Judge struck out their defence and will issue judgement.
He then informed me that judgement is for me only and not my wife, son and daughter who are named on my claim form.
Tried to explain this to him and that claim is for 1600 euros, but he would not have it and said you will have to claim again for your family.
Explained that my MCOL court fee was paid for the amount claimed and not for a single person - still having none of it. So after 11 months i get a judgement for me and back to square one for my family. Well - the fight goes on.0 -

No it is NOT normal! If they've offered to settle, they've concluded they can't win. So tell them you want all the costs, 8% interest, and a kit kat as well as your compensation. Cheeky beggars!0 -

Get back on there goddam horse and finish the job, cowboy! As they say (probably) in the Westerns.
Your family wasn't in the claimant box presumably. But you're a smart guy, so I guess you knew this was a possible outcome.
I've seen the advice on the Facebook.com/monarchcomplaints page, and they're right of course. But take solace from the fact that, though they defended some cases that day, Monarch declined to defend yours. So that tells you everything you need to know. Get that second NBA in on behalf of the kith n kin, and then do it properly next time if Monarch don't fold. (I bet they will.)0 -
Just checked my bank account - Monarch paid up: £3278.90p. Cheers Morgan! Love you!:smileyhea0

Funnily enough, my good lady wife has just given me today's post. It has a letter from Monarch, dated from Wednesday, to say that they are now settling my claim and require me to sign a "Notice of Discontinuance". Erm, I think the judge discontinued it quite effectively, thanks all the same.
Their letter also says that "the settlement amount and terms of settlement are strictly confidential between the parties". Er, no they are not. You lost in court, in public, and that's why your excuse for an airline got reported in the Daily Mail. Sorry about that.
And I'll be filing your form in the bin.0 -

With that and what they apparently said to K_7 about the court fees, they are looking like a rather pathetic and desperate shambles. If I was their Chief Executive, I'd be embarrassed to be responsible.0
