Dear Ms ??????

I am sorry to learn of the disappointment that prompted your correspondence. Providing our passengers with safe and efficient service is our first priority. I would like to reassure you that every effort is made to ensure the flights depart on time and in the unlikely event we are unable to do so, we aim to get you to your destination at the earliest opportunity. That said, our ability to keep disruption to a minimum is always dependant on the resources available to us on the day.

I can confirm that your claim for compensation has now been assessed and you are entitled to compensation in accordance with EU Regulation EC261/2004 due to your delay.

In line with the above a cheque to the value of £339.33 (the Sterling equivalent of €400 based on today’s Reuters exchange rate) will be forwarded to each claimant within twenty one working days. Please be aware that payments for children will be incorporated in the total value of the cheque forwarded to the adult who submitted the claim on their behalf.

For your reference if you have another claim for an alternative delayed flight to the above this will be responded to separately.
Kind regards

Centipede-Found FAQ,i have always gone straight into the Monarch discussion forum. Some good stuff in there and feel nice and confident now.
Big thank you to you and Mark for your help.I will report back end of August with news on my case against Monarchs weak Testimonium Paupertatis (made me laugh -Vauban)0 -
I have just heard back from Monarch that they will not be paying out any compensation for a flight we were delayed on, ZB685, should have left Sharm-el-Sheik on 3rd June,2012 didn't leave until the 4th. They say because the aircraft couldn't leave England as there was a fault and they had to get a part sent in from Luton to Manchester, then the crew had to rest before they could take us back it's classed as 'extraordinary circumstances'. Are they having a laugh...!!! Has anyone else encountered this, and has anyone got any advice on what my next step should be, is there an Ombudsman or anything? as I really don't agree with this.
Thanks0 -

They will probably not reply then it is off to court if you want to pursue it.0 -
Sent Monarch an email a month ago with an attachment of the forms they require and copies of passports for 6 of us.. didn't receive an acknowledgement so resent a week later,, still nothing.. Wrote a message on their facebook and was given the phone number,, left it until the 28 days and telephoned only to be told they can't accept emails with attachments of more than 10kb's mine was 19kb's so wasted 28 days as I had to resend in 3 emails.. more delay tactics as this info is not given anywhere and surely email should have bounced!!0

It's not a delaying tactic, just a crappy email server, they have no reason to delay giving you a response if they'll just reject it anyway.
If the email gets through you get an auto response, on the auto response it does state that files have to be under 10Mb in size to get through, but it kind of defeats the object of saying that there because if it doesn't get through, you never receive the email, but there you go. They don't bounce back, it's just blocked by their email server so you won't get any notification they haven't received it, the only sign is if you don't receive the auto response.0 -
Good news!
Having issued court claim on 21/5 and Monarch indicating they intended to defend in full on 23/5 was surprised to receive letter from court today enclosing a Full Admission from Monarch agreeing (reluctantly) to make payment for the full amount claimed.
I have entered judgement online, but will only really believe it when I see the cheque.
Post No. 786 ZB1377 refers (first of the orange ones on p1)
Signs that the walls are beginning to crumble??
Should I feel confident myself? I have just received Acknowledgment of Service in which Morgan Mulay, Group Lawyer, intends "to defend all of this claim".
They could save everyone's time and money by just paying up and not putting us to the hassle of court. Not that I will be deterred. This forum has only added to my resolve.
To recap, the First Officer called in sick prior to the previous flight to ours.0 -
Yes, feel very confident indeed Gothicmaiden0

Hi All, following the ruling in my favour at the beginning of the month, Monarch were issued with an order to pay before 4th July - this is only a week away, and I have received nothing from them. I will not be too surprised if I receive nothing in the next week.
Have others any experience of a court order being issued to Monarch and whether Monarch comply?
Wondering what my next steps should be in a week's time is I have not received my cheque.0 -
@pavr27,
I am also waiting for a cheque although I was accepted for confirmation initially so didnt have to go to court etc..
I was advised that it would be with me within 21 working days, the deadline for this was 17th June....
I chased them up on 19th June to be told there was a backlog in the accounts department... surprise surprise!!!
If its not in the post today, I'll be on the phone to them again this afternoon.
Hope you have a bit more joy receiving your cheque, it could be delayed for some time yet....0
