Monarch delays & Compensations. Listed flights denied in O.P.

Hi - 1st post on forum have just received cheque from Monarch from delayed flight (8 hours) last September. Despite many posts to the contrary, Monarch paid out without fuss in my case. Thanks to MSE and BBC Watchdog or I would not have known to claim.
Congratulations! How come you were so lucky? What did you say to them?0 -
I'm currently waiting for Monarch's reply to my court claim, but I've just realised I seem to have misplaced my NBA posting certificate. Should I be worried? Has anyone been challenged on whether they followed the correct procedure? (I am sure it's somewhere in the house, it can't be anywhere else. But it could take me ages to find it.)0

The departure lounge/gate past security was completely unmanned, there was no-one to ask and we were told we could only find out by returning to the arrival hall. I think, although it's so long ago, and I would have taken more notice if I'd thought there was something I could do about it(!), there was mention of technical problems and bad weather. However the weather had been settled and was when we arrived.
I'll just wait a week or two to see if they provide a reason before claiming.0 -
Hi jicms,
Look here and see the success rate looks good to me MSE.

Excellent, I hadn't seen this.0 -

Monarch have a list of flights they pay compensation for, ones they know, under any circumstances they have no chance in hell of defending legally. Operational changes, crewing issues, one was a flight where it diverted to pick up a spare for an Aircraft which went tech.
If you're fortunate enough to be claiming for one of those, they will simply just pay you after you complete their forms.0 -

Don't worry, it is a minor point and very unlikely to be challenged by Monarch let alone be of interest to the Judge.0 -
I've fired off another email asking why they haven't replied, so I'll give it another week or two. I'll check my home insurance for legal expenses cover as I'm not keen to pursue court action personally yet as there don't seem to be many successes!
Oh dear I've just received an automated reply which went to my junk mail. So it's possible they did reply to my original claim and it's now been deleted! I'll have to wait for their feedback.0 -
quote post 2227 from Vauban..." I think most judges will be amenable to wrapping up a family's claim in one action, as it creates less work for all concerned, but I suspect it is at their discretion. A letter from the other parties mandating you to act on their behalf is probably helpful to this end. That the European Court allowed Mrs. Wallentin to claim on behalf of her family sets no legal precedent in my (inexpert) view."....
I rang CCMCC to ask about the Directions Questionnaire (Form N180) whether my husband needs to also sign it and send it back and what about the 3 kids under 12? She advised i seek legal advise as obviously they are under the legal age 16 and can not sign it. I put all our names in the claim form, mine at top and defence has come from Monarch with claimant MY NAME & OTHERS. Should i send a cover letter to court having husband ok me acting on his behalf as well and copy of passports for the kids? Or just send mine only? My, my what a legal minefield!
Thanks for any solid advise as do not want to get this wrong...0 -

We were advised by Salford CC to sign as 1st claimant and 2nd claimant. Initially the paperwork was sent to each of us separately but later only one copy the correspondence to the 1st claimant my wife as she made the booking.
Thanks a lot romanby1; should i then not do anything with the kids copy? Now i come to think of it, the court does not know they are children even though i mentioned it in the particulars and the main claim was only signed by me.0
