Man with terminal brain cancer told he's 'fit for work

    http://www.politics.co.uk/news/2012/11/12/man-with-terminal-brain-cancer-told-he-s-fit-for-work

A man with terminal brain cancer is among those being told they are 'fit for work' under the government's work capability assessment programme, new research has discovered.

Other figures told they would lose their disability benefit included someone with no short-term memory mechanism and an incontinent disabled man who is both blind and deaf.

"The work capability assessment is unreliable and unhelpful, as well as being arbitrary and cruel," said Peter Beresford, professor of social policy at Brunel University.

"It's a perfect storm of irresponsibility and unaccountabili

No-one – not the doctors who make the assessment decisions, nor Atos which has responsibility for providing assessments, nor the Department of Work and Pensions which commissioned them – takes responsibility for the problems and failures in the system."

(Just to add that the customer should get updates every 10 days if the response is not within 30 days.)

Could the ATOS rep please state if there are any targets with respect to responses ?
ie are there targets that a certain number of complaints are validated/invalidated so that a quota of assessments are stated to be 'fit for purpose' after the a complaint or is each individual complaint based on its own merits ?

    Thank you,
    Dee

I will let you all know how true this when mine is dealt with, I have already run it by a number of independent organisations and companies so lets see how Atos deal with it? It should be very interesting because I do believe they will come back and say there is no case to answer? which is when I go to town with them through the courts and the press who will love what I have.

Thank you for your reply - however you have not really answered the question fully - Could you tell me if there are any targets or quotas on the proportion of assessments that remain fit for purpose following a complaint to ATOS ?

    Thank you,
    Dee

Quite happy for you to answer the simple question and discuss it openly on this forum for all to see, why do your assessors blatantly lie and disregard medical evidence from more qualified medical staff?

This was not a one off as I have attended two of your assessments for different benefits and the reports that followed did not reflect the medical advisors assessment at the appointment plus medical reports I took along were disregarded, when you are asked to bring along supporting documentation.

See the rep still fails to answer this one!

He/she won't answer it because its true what you say even though the rep and the rest of the Atos cronies will deny it along with IDS and Mcvey who are all know lyres and truth fabricators, If your lucky they may ask you to contact them directly so they can pick up on your ip and know who you are in order to victimise you but if you or anyone else on here has any sense before contacting them use an Ip blocker, I do and have done with all my correspondence with these ??????????.

    Hi isolation,

Sorry, I read your question as an either/or question and thought that my answer pointed out which was right. No, there is nothing like that. Each complaint is looked at on its own merits. If the complaint is about the report and there is found to be an issue with it this is fed back to the DWP in all cases, not based on any sort of quota or target. The DWP Decision Maker would decide if any action was required regarding a person’s benefit claim.

    Hi tracey0770

As I’ve said in several posts, there is no bonus or target for Atos Healthcare or anyone employed by Atos Healthcare relating to claim outcomes or the advice we give. We do not get informed of the outcome of claims.
