    Hi baxie

Because different people with a certain diagnosis can be affected in different ways the evidence that you provide should be specific to you and how you are affected by your illness.

Nevertheless new journals and papers can prove your condition is dangerous to yourself and others. So they need to be read.

I guess with some of them English isn't their first language and probably find the English language difficult to understand, from what I remember with most of the so called HCP's, in a Parliament debate it was stated that English wasn't the fist language for most of them? so maybe that's the reason for not reading anything that's presented to them?

I had ESA medical assessment as I have osteoarthritis in both knees, collapsed vertabraes in my lower spine and am registered disabled. The report came back stating I would be fit for work in two months even though my doctor and the hospital says I will not be able to return to work as my condition will not improve. The assessment was last October and I am still being signed off by my doctor.
The assessor stated I sat in a chair for 45 mins and couldn't be in that much pain as I never asked to move or needed assistance to get up and out of the chair. I walk with a stick and was accompanied by my husband throughout who supported me and helped me in and out of the chair, the assessor also took me into another room to do some exercises half way through the 45 mins we were there so I was not just sat there

My question is why do your assessors blatantly lie.

I was awarded no points but someone else in the DWP looked at my case and must have felt embarrassed by the report as they rang me up apologised and awarded me benefit without me appealing.

Make a complaint and don't be fobbed off with the first reply you get, there isn't any point in discussing anything with Atos because you will only get more of the same LIES

Quite happy for you to answer the simple question and discuss it openly on this forum for all to see, why do your assessors blatantly lie and disregard medical evidence from more qualified medical staff?

This was not a one off as I have attended two of your assessments for different benefits and the reports that followed did not reflect the medical advisors assessment at the appointment plus medical reports I took along were disregarded, when you are asked to bring along supporting documentation.

  • Hi

I can state categorically that our contract with DWP contains no targets for expected range or distribution of advice to Decision Makers for assessment outcomes.

the Panorama programme was making reference to our audit processes – by audit we mean that we check the quality of cases completed by a practitioner.

We audit all new joiners, all staff on a random basis and those staff whose work is significantly outside of the average over a period of time.
In those cases, there is no question of us applying a “quota” or “target”. We look at the quality and if they are outside of the average we check that it is down to the mix of cases, rather than anyone applying criteria differently. If no issues are found with the quality of work, no action is taken.

That’s about us checking our quality and making sure you can expect a consistent approach to your assessment whoever carries it out.

We have no targets in connection with outcome of an person’s claim.

I wonder how long it will be before the truth of this is out like the other targets??????
  • Dear Atos Rep

Please explain how in one section of my WCA the HCP can record in detail problems with my carpel tunnel, yet say I have NO problems with manual dexterity in another??

    Hi minnehaha

The HCP records the symptoms and ‘typical day’ history from each individual in the first part of the report, followed by the findings of any clinical examination that they perform. They are then required to advise on the level of functional loss they feel is present in relation to the specific activities and descriptors of the WCA as set down in Legislation. It is possible to have symptoms from a medical condition (which will be recorded in the first part of the report) which do not impact an individual’s function to the degree/severity necessary to be counted as a ‘problem’ within the WCA descriptors. This may explain what you describe.
