You're talking about a totally different site to the one that this thread is about. Passport.net, who this thread is about, do have it in their T&Cs that they will refund (either in full or less the cancellation charge) whereas passport.uk.com say in theirs that there is no option of cancellation as they provide the service paid for straight away.0 -
This quote is from post #48 on this thread (OK, it seems to relate to ESTA & EHIC but I guess the principle is the same):wantmemoney wrote: »it's no wonder the 'whois' and contact details for uk-passport.net are kept secret and vague.
so who is 'uk-passport.net'?Quote:

ASA Adjudication on Esta Visa Ltd
Esta Visa Ltd t/a nhs-direct.org.uk
Ad
Two sponsored search results for a website offering EHIC applications, seen on 17 and 25 October 2011. Ad (a) stated "EHIC Card Registrations | nhs-direct.org.uk www.nhs-direct.org.uk EHIC Replaces The E111 Health Card, Apply For Your Free EHIC Card Today". Ad (b) stated "Want A New E111? - EHIC Replaces The E111 Health Card www.nhs-direct.org.uk Apply For Your Free EHIC Card Today".
Issue
1. Two complainants challenged whether ads (a) and (b) were misleading because they believed the URL "www.nhs-direct.org.uk" implied a link with the NHS.
2. One complainant challenged whether the claim "Apply For Your Free EHIC Card Today" in ad (b) was misleading because he believed customers were charged for the application.
Action
The ads must not appear again in their current form. We told Esta Visa to ensure they did not mislead consumers regarding the commercial nature of their website or the costs associated with applying for an EHIC card with them.
As I've said many, many times in this thread, I think these companies have learned from their slap on the wrist so have revised their website design and are now making potential customers aware of 'the commercial nature of their website' by stating clearly that you can get the service free (or at a reduced cost) from the official website.0 -
You have to be a saddo if you base running a business on ripping unsuspecting people off...Lets be honest..this is what this and many like it are doing...lol at defending it...I refer to my byline below ...
Ad hominem
An attack upon an opponent in order to discredit their arguement or opinion. Ad hominems are used by immature and/or unintelligent people because they are unable to counter their opponent using logic and intelligence.0 -

I'm not defending it - just pointing out that if you read even a small part of the information prominently displayed on the website (most of the ones I've looked at) you will be aware that you can get the same service free or at a reduced fee.
And the 'saddos' seem to be doing very well out of the fact that there are a lot of unsuspecting people about.0 -

You're entitled to your opinion.
But at least I'm doing something positive on this thread by pointing out that there are other similar websites that 'unsuspecting' people can fall victim to as well as pointing out to people that some websites offer a refund if you do it in the right way.
What have you brought to this thread?
Saddos or not, they will continue to be in business as long as they are not breaking the law.
Instead of having a go at me, why not start lobbying your MP to get these sites closed down?0 -

Just to follow up on my last message (#159) - I replied, quoting my partner's account number, sort code and last four digits of her card, which I assume should be sufficient info, and less dodgy than emailing her whole card number. I also requested that her info be deleted. They haven't replied yet, even though I sent a third email, again requesting cancellation and confirmation.
So far no money has been taken out of my partner's account, and as we've done everything they asked, all may be fine. We'll see.0 -
