To be fair, his comment wasn't aimed at every parent of every child with this condition. He was using it as an example to his point.
I also know someone who uses the aspergus/autism to attempt to get more money. She's actually within my friend/acquaintance 'circle'. The childs father confirms that there is no reason for wanting a diagnosis, we all see the child and he acts and thinks (obviously we can only go off what the child tells us) very similar to children his age who do not/never been suspected of suffering from it. The school do not believe he has it, the doctor does not believe he has it. One minute we're told he has been diagnosed after appointments and assessments, the next we're told he is due his initial assessment that will finally get his diagnosis. But during the conversations she initiates with everyone who knows her, the money aspect is always mentioned. I've sat there while he does sums, yet mother tries to convince us he doesn't actually know the sums and that he must have memorized them all. She does not give her son the chance to grow!
My cousin has the Autism. He does very well at school as he is extremely intelligent. His autism comes across in his personality and character, and as endearing this makes him there are aspects that make his social skills different to most, and difficult for others to understand. He is encouraged by my auntie to achieve all he wants to achieve.
I do not have any ignorance/disrespect for any condition, especially for those that affect children. But I also believe there are people who would manipulate these situations for their own gain, though I believe they are a minority.0 -

The rest of our info isn't relevant and is only required to satisfy nosiness that exists everywhere. You don't need to know whether she is a fluffer or a specialist fac business coordinator. You don't need to know that I work as a process contractor as it isn't really relevant.
She would come here and work and contribute by paying taxes and NI over the 30+ years and unless something dramatic Happened is unlikely to require assistance from what she has contributed.
I can assure you that it is not nosiness, but it is always the case that people trying to make excuses for bringing prospective partners into the country, conveniently leave out the bits that tell the story.
For every foreigner that comes here and gets a job that a British person can do, is leaving that person on our benefits system for even longer, if there was a glut of jobs then fine, but there isn't.
The question is, why is she coming here if she has a perfectly good job at home, she is coming here to be with you, not to advance her career, if that is the case, and as you have said you can afford to keep her, then why don't you, and if the job situation changes and there are more jobs then let her apply.0 -
Ok to be totally unbiased, unlike some people on this forum, assuming that your girlfriend is not living with you she can claim JSA as soon as she arrives in the UK because she is an EU National and a workseeker. She is unlikely to be awarded JSA straight away because she is not habitually resident in the UK, but after a certain period of time she will be awarded JSA - the period of residency depends on the Decision Maker at the Benefit Centre.
In the meantime she can sign on every 2 weeks and when she gets a NI number she will receive her NI credits (she doesn't have to be habitually resident to receive NI credits - she just needs to have a NI number and be available and actively seeking work).
Without contributing a penny! I rest my case.0 -

There are plenty of UK born citizens who are living off benefits and have never worked/will never work a day in their lives. This person is coming to the country to find work and pay taxes.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

big_is_beautiful. Did you used to write to Points of View as “disgusted of Tunbridge Wells”? Of course it is nosiness, I am not making excuses nor am I leaving out relevant points to the question I asked.
I have to say you really haven’t got a clue about the real world. People move left right and centre all the time for better work opportunities to advance their careers and lo and behold also for love. Thankfully she is from a country where I don’t have to worry about immigration and the small minded views of people like you. Taking your view to an extreme it would suggest that if I lived in Kent I shouldn’t move to Scotland to take a job as someone in Scotland might need it. Well if they need it they can apply for it and we can see who is the BEST candidate for the role and the ultimate success of the organisation. See the word BEST? Yes that is what gets professionals jobs not the fact that they are Eastern European and can undercut.
I am surely tempted to get her on JSA just to annoy the hell out of you and make your blood boil, but I cannot be bothered with the hurdles for the return, I really just want her in the NI system. She has 4 interviews in the City today and I suspect it won’t be long before she will actually be in employment so can then contribute her share to our nice society, and of course be eligible for benefits should the need arise. In fact as PAYE she will probably contribute more to the Government’s coffers than I do.0 -
Sam I have to admit that I find it bad that people can come here and receive benefits but im allowed my opinion.
As for big-is-beautiful, she is supposedly a midwife or something like that but with midwifes like that who would want kids0 -

That proper made me laugh out loud. (The midwife bit). Yep I also agree about the benefits without contributing rubbish that goes on BUT that wasn't where I started as I just wanted her in the NI system and it was someone else who said she could get Jsa which is when it all got juicy on here :-)0 -
Well hopefully you have enough info to get her NI number now and I wish you both the best of luck for the future0
