So simply put she can just apply for an NI number and nothing else.
I think that's the case, yes. I'm afraid I don't know the exact rules.0 -
I think I'd she applies for jsa in her current country and here then as long as she passes the residency test and has conts overseas she can claim cont based. It won't be immediate as she has to show she lives here as opposed to a long holiday etc.0

Applying for NI number, all you need to know here

Look specifically at the bit about working in the UK as that is more relevant to your GF0 -

If you are living together as a couple and your income is low, then YOU may be able apply for things like WTC, CTB or LHA as the earner in a couple. You need to know the LHA rate for a 1 bed rather than shared accomodation. I recall a non-EU spouse gettting in a tangle here becuase his missus had been awarded LHA for a couple.
Check https://www.turn2us.org.uk.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I think not, princessdon. I believe to claim CB JSA she has to have right of residence here and have worked here.0

So basically she'll live with you rent-free until she finds a job miles away in London, then she'll take that job and leave you? Mate, I'm struggling to see how this is a step in the right direction for you! She will presumably also need help with the first month's rent/deposit on wherever she moves to and some money to get her through until payday?
Sorry - none of these things concern any benefits she may be entitled to, which was your question, but I'm just a bit concerned about you being taken for a bit of a ride here. Hope I've completely misunderstood the set-up and this is absolutely not what will happen!DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Thanks for the advice and concern guys.
Justlooking2012 that is a good link, I had been on direct.gov but stupidly not thought of HRMC site. LOL no idea why! I was thinking she needed an NI before she applied for jobs, but according to this she can start work, just needs to apply for NI number straight away.
RAS definitely not going to be eligible for any benefits unless I manipulate the circumstances (ie lie/commit fraud which someone suggested I do, but that isn’t going to happen).
Skintandscared thanks for the concern. We’ve been together nearly 3 years commuting between both countries all this time every other weekend etc which has been fun but has also been very testing. Lucrative work for my skill set was not possible in Slovakia so one of us had to move if we wanted our relationship to develop. She has given up a career with a good international firm, her family and friends to move here. I am a process consultant/contractor and have my home in the South East which is only used occasionally and I have to rent a property in the West Country to service my current contract. I am keen for her to pursue her career and she would live in my flat in Kent and commute from there. Being in the same country would at least make it possible to have every weekend together and some days during the week until such time as I can change contracts and also work in the Big Smoke and then we could be together ;-)0 -
Best of luck to you both. I commute from Kent and it's a doddle.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

May I ask what these skills are? Is she not able to get a job using those skills in her own country.
I have to say, it is only an observation but do you not think that any British people would have these skills, and my also be wanting these jobs.
As someone said, it is odd that she is coming over her only to work, not to be with you.0
