I've done the washing up now and S&S kitchen with anti bacterial stuff but now have a sink full of standing water. I have tried bleach, bicarbonate and shop bought stuff to no avail. I have undone the pipe underneath but can't get to all of it properly. Any ideas anyone, or will I have to get a man in?

something long and thin like an unravelled wire coat hanger?

  • I am surfacing for a break in the midst of an ironing marathon! I did loads yesterday and have even more to do today.

I have refed the washing machine for the 4th time - this time with towels. I am not happy that OH filed a shirt in the washiing basket with a weeks worth of underwear in! Luckily I found it before the shirt went in the white wash - but I had already done the dark wash....

DS has arrived home ( he slept at a mate's house) and is in the bath and about to disappear to his g/f's place. He had a hissy fit last night when he couldn't find the top he wanted - extensive searching revealed that it was not in the pile awaiting ironing - it's probably still on the floor in his room. But if he's going out then this afternoon will be peaceful!

DH has brought tea - so it's back to the ironing...

    Jazee, plunger!

Narco are you rural? I love long tailed-tits too, we get them here in family groups, they tend to stay in the trees at the bottom of the garden but sometimes come to the ones nearer to the house.

Banking frog next (well done on your plastic bag sort LW, funny I have just sorted out ours for the car boot sale and like you try not to accept them but over Christmas seem to have quite a collection)

Only if you kick me back - I'm finding it really hard and keep getting sidetracked by more interesting things.....sums up the lifetime relationship between me and housework really!

    It's a deal!! :)

I would buy a plunger, they are under £10. The last time I had a blocked sink I got a man in - all he did was bring in a plunger, use it, and charge me £40  But he did recommend I get a plunger for the future :o

A few flakes of snow have fallen here. Not settling though thank goodness. I've done more washing and scoffed a lovely brunch made by DD :A

Love, hugs, sticks, spoons, and boots up the derriere as required ;)

  • Hi there.

Good wishes all round, especially to Elle - I'll add my thoughts to those already here - thinking of Ionafan's and Lamewolf's, amongst others, who always have sensible, and kindly opinions. Elle, you have to do what is right for you and the children, and even if comments made by the family are meant well, it's your marriage and you have to do what's right in YOUR circumstances right now.

I was given that advice years ago, when dealing with a similar situation, and still stick to it now, if you have thought everything through, and gone through all your options, you do what in your heart is best for you. I do hope things soon pick up, including the banking issue, and I send lots of 'coping' vibes your way right now. It doesn't seem so, but it will get better. X

Good vibes too, to all those going through similar times; now I'm older I am more settled, and have a nice OH, a comfortable home and a stable income, but remember the hard times, the despair, the cold, lack of money, lack of decent housing, and it does upset me to hear of others having to go through such miserable situations. But, I truly believe things go round in cycles, in fact I know it, so the stable, peaceful times will come round - let's just hope it's sooner rather than later for those dealing with problems now.

Been good flying here! Did a big shop for sick friend yesterday, and cleaned a bit for him, then met OH and we had a big, but cheap, meal out (chips and such like!), we did a big shop for us then came back, sorted cats out with new food, then collapsed with a big cuppa! We then only needed soup for a late tea, so it was a lazy evening!

Have flown through today, tidying, S&S bathroom and kitchen, did all ironing and sorted three drawers. OH took neighbour's dogs out while I prepared loads of fresh veg, some of which we are having soon for a late lunch, some part-cooked for a slow cooker meal tomorrow, and he is going to make soup for tea later, so a lazy night again with the skating!

Last set of good vibes winging your way, plus get well vibes for any poorlies, including OHs, and see you soon. R x

Feeding done, must have been good as there is no leftovers, and the last dumpling was in so much demand it was shared between three :D but we are all full and groggy, so I consider that a successful Sunday lunch.

DW going again, and everything else cleared away and spare chairs put back. We're having a quiet hour now, guests gone, tv on, fire on, feet up ;)

It's what Sunday afternoons were made for. If I didn't have a two year old sat on my full tummy...

Will have a nursery bag sort later, and make sure we are prepared for any snow! Oh and clean beds tonight I think. And baths all round. X

Is there anything you can get to remove all the discolouration/limescale as it always looks dirty even when it's not :o. I do clean the toilets every week honest and even sometimes give them a wipe over when they don't even need it!

Believe it or not, but a couple of denture cleaning tablets thrown down the toilet at night really does help remove stubborn stains :D

Awake early so have made a cuppa and back in my lovely warm bed. It's very cold today. Folded some washing while waiting for the kettle.

Look forward to Sundays as DDs ex MIL sends me a lunch up and it's lush. A proper Sunday dinner. Even though I've said there is no need. Very kind of them.

    SB Take it easy.
    Elle_Woods. Big Hugs.
    Good Intentions Thinking of you.

Hugs, spoons and sticks where needed.

Boddy, that is lovely about your Sunday lunch - your DD's ex-MIL sounds a super lady.

I keep hoping that Bossymoo will send me some of her stew and dumplings! I've mentioned here before I rarely make them, as OH doesn't like them, so I don't usually bother for me, but I LOVE them!!

And Bossymoo is making them again! (Sob .....)

Yes, a small village and our house backs onto farmland. When it's cold they are quite bold; we have a patio area outside the conservatory/kitchen where the bird feeder stands, although I also hang feeders in a large shrub/small tree alongside the patio so they can hide in their and check for neighbour's cats first
