Good afternoon and a Happy New Year
So thought as new year would start a new diary as things have changed a bit from last year. So brief summary so I dont get too boring.
Lost my beloved pony new years eve 2011 after 21 years and then took the huge step of getting a new one in April 2012. She is only 18 months so this diary is me busting the debt and learning with her too as never had a baby hoss before.
So me and OH, hoss and a nutty little hamster :rotfl:
Have a bigish mortgage, well seems to me anyhow, house needs a lot of work. We both work, OH has just been made permanent and with a slight increase so should balance our budgets. January is a bit of write of going from weekly to monthly pay but come feb and march we should be on an even keel
So debts as of today:-
NWP credit card £2727 - currently 0%
NWG credit card £4154 - currently 17.9% but transferring to 0%
Bcard credit card £3210 - currently 15.9%
Sofa £994.75 - 0%
NW Loan £6634 - 6.9%
VW Finance £5485 - think around 6%
Parents £8650 - 0% (currently not paying)
Mortgage £156.949
So total excluding mortgage £31.957

So the plan of action.
There is a 0% offer on the barclaycard so going to transfer the NWG figure onto this so will just have £3.2k on any interest card so this is the target.
The car finance we are leaving to run as it offers a good plan for free service for 2 years so offsets the interest payments at the moment.
We are currently not paying the parents as we stopped when OH didnt earn as much, I would really like to start paying this again.
We are due a small inheritance shortly, hopefully in the next few months. We are going to be able to clear the loan and have £1k to put towards the card then that will leave £2k on a high interest card.
So back to hard work of ebaying, surveying, daily clicks and tight budgeting. Feb and Mar we dont pay council tax so thats £300 to put towards the debt.
Pay £148 a month to the loan so that will also be able to go to overpayments as now OH has had a rise we can afford the food bills which we couldnt last year.
Have already set up savings so pay £100 to the insurance and car fund this should cover 90% of these expenses. Pay £10 to hoss fund to pay for annual vets bills, £20 to emergency fund, £10 to presents fund for xmas and birthdays and £10 to fun funds. Once the debt is gone will be able to afford a lot more to these.
So have had 2 weeks of work and back to work tomorrow and back to getting on trackDebt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

On first thoughts 31k is quite a lot; however I was 23k debt just over 2 years ago.
I am now just under 12k outstanding. Yes, I could have done better, however I have a young family inc. 3 children under 8 and we have had budget mini breaks, nice birthday/xmas, trips to football etc.
Wishing you all the best with your debt clearance.0 -
