£31K and a baby horse, 2013 could be fun :)

Lad thanks for dropping by your post is very thought provoking... so the answer:-
OH made redundant, dropped from 18K to zero pay for while, redundancy money available but didnt last long
OH re-trained but couldnt get work
Started temping but only on around 14K so big drop in salary (unfortunately some things financed on credit )
Due to redundancy OH had no vehicle so a van was purchased (hence the finance)
Bought a bed and did a few bits of work in the house
Was still on 25% paycut till June
And I suppose the biggest cost was I bought a horse :rotfl:Paid out of savings for her but lots of additional spending on food/bedding/trainer which in reality shouldnt have done with OH potentially out of work but cant reverse the past just move on forwards
So lots to think about and can see clearly how we got here so many thanks again as really helped
So now to move forward and get on with things. I am still on 100% pay so hoping this lasts for a while and OH now permanent and back on 18K but with overtime so this is extra so will all help. Have made a spreadsheet at home which has 640 boxes on, each representing £50, approx £32K of debt so when bit paid can cross these of, helps to visualise how far we are moving forwards.
So today lunch bought in, low spend day as just need to get some cherry juice for OH and emergency choc for office.Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

Low spend day today had to go to doctors so 50p spent on parking, no other spends and lunch bought in.
Balance transfer has gone through. £3.20 from quidco received today so have left in current a/c to minimise damage next month.
Need to get horse hay and bedding over the weekend, unfortunately zero budget for thisbut will put on credit card and then use next months council tax free month to cover it. Have worked out roughly what she eats now so looking to get a better budget for it all.

Morning, a major rant coming on. I am !!!!!!! !!!!ed of today. Had a row with a !!!!!!! stupid livery down the yard last night. She has been stealing my hay to put extra out in the field because apparently I don’t put down enough. She only does this at the weekends as she cant get her lazy whatsit out of bed and put her horse out at a reasonable time so her poor horse has to stay in till 11am sat and sun because she deserves a lie in, hello if you have horses you don’t get a lie in! If she put her horse out at a reasonable time like me, my horse goes out at 8.30/9 on a weekend there would be plenty of hay, but she puts it out late my horse and another livery has eaten all the hay and so she puts extra out with her horse and then moans because my horse eats it, wouldn’t be a problem if you got up and behaved like a responsible owner and put your horse out at a reasonable time! If I made my horse stay in till 11 she would kick the place down! So on this premise she thinks it ok to go into my feed room and steal my hay to put out for them, she doesn’t even have the decency to ask:eek:
And apparently when I do put hay out I don’t put enough out and she has to supplement me and I owe her a fortune, seriously get a life woman I know how to look after a horse and what to put out. If I posted a photo on here fellow horse owners would be disgusted at the state of her horse, its half crippled can bearly walk and she has had the cheek in the past to tell me how to look after or train my horse! At the time asked her if she would like to help me to train she is more than welcome as I would welcome anyones advice but funny enough she has never taken me up on the offer:cool:
Also got this snotty message on facebook on Saturday which is a complete lie as I always clear the field and do all the electric fencing of which she has done a tiny amount, and the owner has never mentioned a word to me so she is blatantly lying again. If this is not a message from someone who is just showing bullying tactics I don’t know what, its abusive as well, was absolutely disgusted by it:mad: She is now blocked on fb and doesnt have my phone numbers so if she wants to say something again come and say it to my face.

Hi ****,
As you saw I poo picked today. 5 wheelbarrows filled to the brim and there is still plenty left. I have been doing this for quite a while now and quite frankly I'm fed up with being the only one who does it. It's in your livery agreement to do poo picking at least once a week just as it is in mine. I was hoping that the yard owner telling you to do it properly while I was away would do the trick, but clearly it didn't. I haven't done the part of the field starting from the water and then all along the fence to the ****s field up to the small tree on that side. That is for you to do. I know exactly where the poo is, so I'll know whether you cleaned the field or not. My guess is it'll be about 2-2 1/2 hours of work, which is what I spent on the field today. So set aside that time for poo picking tomorrow. If you only do it once a week it will always be 2-3 hours of work to clean the field. Make it a date in your diary or pay someone else to do it, I don't care. But get it done, not just tomorrow, but week after week. If not I will start charging you for the amount of extra time and work I have to do, and I don't come cheap I can tell you that.
So now the scenario is do I stay there and put up with it somehow or find somewhere else to move her which would probably be more expensive and more travel as current yard is only 5 min drive from home! Not happy today Debt 13-1-25 - £39K!!!

What a horrible person, dreadful way to communicate.
My advice, and if you remember, I advised you to get hoss in the first place, is to move yards. Hoss will pick up your emotions from you, so intuitive, and you will have a potential breeding ground for a naughty horse.
So sorry you're having a problem at your yard, but a little more travel is going to be worthwhile in the longer term. Perhaps you will be able to move back one day. Young horses are very adaptable and she will adjust very quickly.

Time to start practicing with the horsebox I think. Bucket of food, very calm demeanor [you] and plenty of time should do it....and....when motor-mouth isn't aroundTotal debt at October 2008: £67,213.30

Piq thanks so much for your reply again
have started with scary things she will now follow me over a tarpulin and was interesting to see her last night as other livery walked up her for me and she would barely move so had to chase her, so seems there is a real bond there as she always moves for me so a happy moment in at all, which means cant be doing that bad a job!

Morning, something funny last night, one of the other liveries organised some fun activities the other day, walking over tarpaulin, scary bags on fencing, playing with gym ball etc, anyone invited with their horse. So she has suggested we do it again and invited everyone again, the evil one said to the other livery if I was going to go she wouldn’t be coming! Seriously how childish and pathetic:mad: Stupid cow

Found another couple of livery yards so going to call them today and see if any cheaper as one yesterday was £450 a month all in, only pay around £250 at the moment so something I cant afford and ideally would like to say at least assisted DIY as like the bond I have doing things everyday with her

How awful - cant you change paddocks or have a word with YO?
We have too many in our paddocks so unfortunately we cant put hay down. Livery is certainly expensive down your way.
If you have access to a trailer nows the time to start practising like Piq says plenty of time and a bucket of feedMy friends horse had a bad experience with another driver and we spent hours with her -- took out all partitioning and just sat on ramp and eventually lead her in and out. She now gets on without hesitation and if she has a 'worry' moment we take it all apart and start again. my OH also drives very nicely for them so she has always had a good journey.
I hope you get it sorted - nothing worse than just wanting to spend some fun time with your horses and having to put up with agro like that. x0
