Whats yours Claire21 ? I have been around the country and been impressed by different places for different reasons . Enjoyed Broadway House in Cheddar for family stuff. Bryn Gloch for beauty quay west (new quay wales) for a base. Ty Nadan (brittany)all activity . Callow Top (ashbourne) pools and parks. Others spring to mind.
 hard as nails on the internet . wimp in the real world

Greenface, broadway house is just up the road from me, its shut now for redevelopment.

We only got a motorhome half way through the summer last year, so have only been a few places. We did France loire valley for 2 weeks , lovely. Im really interested to discover new places for weekends in the Uk.

    We have 3 kids
Want to go to river dart country park

The trouble is, one man's friendly paradise is another man's Butlins. I think you need to define quite closely what you enjoy, otherwise this post will be meaningless.

For example, owners of small tent, big tent, campervan, touring van and motorhome all have different ideas, as I have discovered to my cost on occasion. The level of sanitation facilities required is different in each case, for starters. I am working through the above list and have reached campervan (in my early 50's). It can be like a class system, you know "I look down on him because he only has a tent" etc.

My advice is to do your research on the internet (most sites have some sort of website), and use Google maps / satellite to drill down to the exact site. You can tell a lot from a good aerial view. That's how I find my sites in France, Wales & Scotland, and it has worked pretty well.

Don't be too persuaded by the generalized opinions expressed by others. Anyway, stumbling across your own little gems (mine is Isle of Arran, Kildonan - just by the hotel, summer only, no website) is half the fun!

    Good luck

Even bad campsites are a lesson . You can check out the area once your there for next time. We stayed just outside tenby one year and seen the great site in april and booked it for a week in august ( with 2 other caravan family friends ) In august it was like the wild west and the smell was pure drains. Made the owner meet me on my so called pitch with 3x weeks money for us .We left and Went to a very tidy park called Wood office in Narbeth . Grass like a bowling green . 2 showers for the whole field a tree and a sand pit. Great hollybobs and very friendly
