How very true love,I often think what my Nan would have had to say about my gadgets, bless her she resisted electricity as long as she could, , nasty sneaky stuff, held onto her gaslights and coal range ,outside wash-house and loo until the late 60`s when they demolished her house an moved her into a flat. She was not impressed.

First spend of the month -£27.80. Should have been £25.40 but I forgot to pack the kids snacks for after swimming lessons and had to resort to the dreaded snack machine with chocolate bars and crisps 80p each:( I should be able to do a carton of juice and a snack for that! Off to do some maths.....
  • With me starting a new job on Monday we have decide that whilst we usually break the monthly budget up in to weeks of £30 each we will flex it this month, two reasons:
*I won't be shopping every week as I do at the moment
*we will be going out for a celebratory meal Monday night :)

Also, a few changes due to needed to adapt the meal plans to include me eating outside of the house (no more poached eggs on toast haha!) and not resorting to Subway

There's £12 left of this weeks rough allocation - he wants to order pizza on Saturday night so that will be that gone plus some from the fuel budget that we won't spend.

    Next week:
Going out for dinner on Monday, should be £25 for 2 carveries, 2 deserts, 2 drinks.

I need to get bf hair gel (something he didn't tell me he needed this month grrr) so that's £1.09 x 2
We will need Yorkshire puddings £2
I want oats for my breakfasts before work £0.79
    Bread £1
    Ham £1
    Cheese £3
    Milk £1

Think that's everything, might add some golden syrup if I can find some for less than £1 and some icing sugar to make some cakes for lunches too :)

All in all less than £15 and then that should stretch 2 weeks(more for some of it), well apart from the ham/bread/milk as will need a top up of those a week on Saturday so we have fresh for lunches

So really just a change to the distribution of funds - manageable though with my pay day being tomorrow and my carers allowance comes through on Monday plus bf has been paid already :)

Just need to get in to a decent routine with regards to shopping and work I think

    Hello everyone

I'm going to go for £130 again in February. I came in way underbudget in January which I was pleased with, but just in case it was a fluke, I'll set the same amount for this month.

    Good luck all!

I think I am losing the plot. :eek:I was making a syrup cake - thought the mix was not right - no syrup added! :oI wasn't going to throw the mix away so instead of creaming sugar and syrup - I added it at the end of mixing. Well - it smells like syrup cake - see what it's like when I cut it.

Just back from Sains where I spent £6.49 on some pop, milk, soured cream (these three I went for) and some chorizo / bacon lardons that were on offer (2 for £3, the chorizo on it's own was £3 & use by is June so will defo get eaten)

    Total now £87.52

Meal plan has gone to pot this week - people keep offering us free food (so not complaining!) and everything keeps shuffling on - only prob is spinach is looking past it's best, definitely will be inedible by Fri (when we can eat it) - if I blanche it can I freeze it?? TIA
