Hi all, not been here for a while, but really gone over-budget this month despite needing to rein in spending!

I'm having a rare NSD today, after spending far too much at the weekend. In my defence, DS staff discount at SM was higher this weekend, so I stocked up on stuff we needed, including the biggest bag of basmati rice I've ever seen - it'll do us until Christmas I think! :D

Will try to be careful until the end of the week, then Friday is both the start of a new month and my major shopping day, so I will start again properly.

Nice to see some of your yummy teas on here! :)

    A xo

€507.39/€600 and only 4 days to go!! Now I know I have a few bits to get today but hopefully I'll be coming in about €30-40 under budget so I'm pleased with that. I'll have to hold the purse strings tight for the next few days!
  • Im reporting an overspend of £18.66 this month (we wont be going shopping again until the weekend), we spent £178.66 against a target of £160. Not too bad, i think we would of succeeded if i hadn't of been ill and we hadn't of spent a whopping £33.12 on McDonalds and snack food! Off to update my blog.. Good luck with your targets :)

  • hi all,
dont normally post til a friday but i feel like all my shopping is done for the month and i'm under budget! wont declare for certain til friday though.

    spends so far...
a$da £23.58 (was actually £47.58 but £24 of it was for march's challenge)
@ldi £12.06 (on veg, super 6, and lunchbox stuff)

    total spends £228.91

so confident that i wont be needing anymore shopping before friday that i even used some the remaining money to pay for DH's prescription and DS school trip leaving me £8.74 under budget (but should something crop up i can replace the £12.35)

meal planning is completed for march, and my provisionary shopping lists are written out for my first two shops of march. i think i might have got the hang of this at last :)

    So wish me luck all
  • Evening! Just popped on to report this week's main shop and a total of £34.89! It was a bigger shop than expected but I also got some coffee which always bumps up the total (a nice cup of coffee is always a good thing). The good news is that I shouldn't need anything else before Friday and if I do it'll be a couple of quid here and there.

3 days to go until the end of the month and I'm not so confident. The expected average totals per month seem to be creeping up so I may need to revise my budget. I'll give it another month and see how it looks to be headed. Doing my sums at the moment:

    Spent so far 2013: £326.93
    Jan: £165.42
    Feb: £161.51
If this trend continues, the yearly budget will be more like £1980, or £2k to be on the safe side. May need to revise my budget...

Tea tonight is going to involve sausages - I really fancied bangers and mash for tea but if Mr KB isn't amenable it'll either be a chilli con sossie or toad in the hole, depending on what he fancies.

Have a lovely evening, everyone. Good luck to us all!

    KB xx

the new tescos on my way home from work has a very large ETHNIC section they had a big sacks of basmati broken rice for about 4 quid i was looking at the chappatti flour i don't know why and that was cheap i remember i was looking for some pulses to do some price comparisions on

  • £10 spend today in Mr M - would have been £15 but I had a £5 voucher - stocked up bf's chocolate trug, got him a couple of treats then just bread, ham and a few lunch bits (emergency snack pots for work - on offer at 49p each, biscuits for lunches etc)

Need to stock up on Pepsi max cans whilst they are £2 for 8 in Mr M - find bf drinks less this way so definitely worth it although I wouldn't buy them full price!

Need oven chips, mixed veg and baked beans tomorrow.

Need to write my list for March incl the Makro shop! Will try and do that tonight :)
