Food price hikes!!

            Things are getting tighter.
It's ridiculous now. Bargains can be had, so top up on them when possible.
Although Tesco are the biggest pee takers, they are almost all at it.0

After watching the "harvest 2013" series this week apart from wheat the veg and fruit harvests all appear to have been bumper, and wheat harvests elsewhere in the world ARE bumper. BUT what's the betting food prices still don't go back down as instead the big stores ramp up the profit margins again.

Has anyone elce noticed that the price of loose fruit in Asda is very expensive. This week I bought 3 large red delicious apples and they were £2.50 and 2 big conference pears and they were £1.70 for both.
I like their fruit because it tends to be hard and crispy but its really dear.
The other alternatives bar supermarkets tend to be a greengrocer or the market and the apples and pears I've found are very hit and miss and either soft or bad.
I think Morrisons and Sainsburys apples are also poor quality.0

I've always found frut and veg awful in morrisons. I much prefer asda but it does seem to be getting more expensive. Try a different market if poss as the fruit at our one's is always top quality.0

Tesco Everyday Value Cornflakes jumped from 32p a box to 65p! A 100% price increase!
Still cheap and very good quality, but that's quite a leap.We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

I expect to pay more for organic food because it means yields are lower and has more rigorous certification controls so higher production costs.
However I do feel that Sainsbury's is taking the mickey. SO organic UNfiltered is now 50p more than the filtered organic Extra Virgin olive oil ie charging more for doing less.
I complained, was sent a £3 gift card, but the price differential remains. I'm refusing to buy organic olive oil at Sainsbury's now, I buy it from ASDA.
Re: fruit and veg.. before going organic I was always happy with Lidl. Morrisons gets a thumbs down from me. The quality of organic veg in ASDA is very good - when I can find any I end up buying it where I can, mostly online. 0 I end up buying it where I can, mostly online. 0

I normally buy the basics or value skimmed uht milk and over the last year its gone from 49p-51p-53p---to 65p without warning! I actually bought fresh milk today as was on offer for the first time but am shocked at how quickly its gone up as its so handy for us, I only go food shopping every 10 days or so and try to limit car journeys, it makes a difference!I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

I've changed my buying to avoid the price-hiked products.
 Tesco are especially bad.0
