Food price hikes!!

Went shopping today and some of my usual foods had gone up, not just by a couple of pence by mostly 25p more expensive!!

Eg. Tesco frozen Garlic Bread, sliced is now £1.25 instead of £1, but a frozen garlic bread baguette is still £1. Can't see how the former can suddenly incur such a rise.

Pure greed on Tesco's behalf. Is this so in 4 weeks time they can drop the price back down to £1 and shout about extraordinary value?!

No idea as I never set foot in the place.

Lying cheating con merchants with obnoxious staff !
  • I have to agree with shammyjack I never set foot in the place either. Have been overcharged so many times and the staff are really bad and unhelpful so haven't set foot in one for over a year now.

What do you mean 'still £1'? Tesco own brand frozen garlic baguette was 75p until not so long ago. (The equivalent still is 75p in ASDA.)

But yes, Tesco jacked up a lot of prices on own brand before Xmas.

Expect a big price drop promotion to make themselves cheaper than they were.
  • Yes I noticed how their prices have increased dramatically.. I go to Asda now , I find it a lot cheaper.

OH went to Tesco Express and bought a tin of soup. Went back the following night, noticed it had gone up 29p.

Some one on the value thread posted that Tesco value mushrooms had gone up to 1.25 - Sainsbury's SO organic chestnut mushrooms 250g cost that and atm are on offer to 22/01/13 at £1.

It's coming to something when Tesco value is as expensive as organic

Ocado promises to beat Tesco brand prices and so far for me they've only failed to do that once - and I got a voucher :)

Probably, it's been working for asda with their roll back prices for years.

Tesco organic chestnut mushrooms are £1.25 for 250g too, and no doubt will be on offer at £1 when sainsburys go back up.

The value mushrooms are 400g, so not a good comparison.

Well they have to make their money back on all those daft loyalty points they give you some how, don't they?
