Some really odd posts in this thread. Tesco is a business, not a charity. They (or any other supermarket) should charge whatever gives them the most profit at the end of the day.

So your suggesting they should carry on ripping off people...with fake promotions....dodgy meat....crap customer service....or are you bored and thought you would post a odd thread....this website is about moneysaving and not being ripped off

Not at all, but it seems as though everyone spots a price rise they shout "scam" and "rip-off" without a second thought.

I've no doubt the supermarkets do this but not every time. There are times when prices rise genuinely because the cost has gone up.

Someone mentioned cat litter for example, I keep an eye on prices and i've seen other brands going up in price at Asda. Rubber gloves have also gone up a tidy sum in Wilkinsons.

So perhaps not a cut and dry Tesco rip-off.

Some products on the other hand (value grapes have come to mind) have rocketed, yet everywhere else you can buy the prices have remained stable. M&S sell two punnets for £4 (£2.99 individually), long-running offer, good quality ones, yet Tesco are charging £1.75 for a value pack, up from £0.99! Asda haven't changed the price (£2) on the standard ones either (note though my local Asda do not sell the value ones).

Maybe but I got a 25Kg sack of spuds from the local grocers for £7.50 while the equivalent weight, i.e. 10x2.5Kg bags from Tescos would have required a mortgage.

I complained to them recently, the tatties were French and fell to bits when just at boiling point. Had a whole pan of soggy watery mess.
    I love this place :j:T:j

I stood in Tesco today moaning to Marley about how the crisps I bought last week for £1 had gone up to £1.56 :rotfl:

Our choice of supermarkets is Tesco, Morrison (which is tiny and has a tiny range to match) and Asda (which has sold me 'off' meat & chicken in the past so I don't trust it). Slowly we are transferring our shopping to the other retailers, in particular the local indoor market - we started by finding a good butcher, then discovered the greengrocer whose fruit & veg doesn't suffer from the 'unripe - one minute of ripeness - overripe' problem, and today we even found a stall selling large eggs at 70% the price of Tesco!

You need to calm down buddy. First of all, my post had nothing at all to do with customer service or dodgy meat, only prices. Second of all, I don't agree that there is even such a thing as a rip-off price, unless someone is holding a gun to your head and forcing you to pay it. Whatever you might think of Tesco, I've yet to see that happen at my local store.
