  • Its the same case for tomato pasta sauce - I mean how easy is it to make your own out of tinned or fresh tomatoes - if you make your own it wont be full of sugar or salt either.

I'm on ww and chopped toms, basil, garlic and balsamic vinegar is 0 points. I had a jar of some cooking sauce and its 4 points for half a jar!

Tesco EDV white grapes are now £1.75 - they were 98p. Cheaper to get them loose at the moment as they are £2.49/kg

I spotted this yesterday. They've gone mad.
  • I rarely go to Tesco nowadays but was shocked at price hikes last week, every item on my list made me think 'do I really need this' as everything seemed to have increased about 20% and I put a lot back or changed my mind! Needless to say I won't be hurrying back there to do my shopping!
I love food, hate waste and have a penchant for sparkly things ::D

I gather Tesco's beef burgers are good value:

I have mainly shopped at Tesco Minehead or Tiverton over the past 12 months and have come to know the price benchmark when I started in Dec.2011 and now!
Example they have reduced the contents of a tray of Minced Beef from 800g to now a tiny 500g(not enough for a family of 4) and kept the price at £4 which is a 38% increase in 12 months and bread has gone up £0.20 per loaf and numerous other examples of duplicitous behaviour whilst still trying to persuade you a good deal is to be had if you buy in 2's or 3's but many people cannot afford this.
Please list your examples of items which have gone up by £0.10/0.20/0.30 per item and I'll create a list to lobby them as they're clearly struggling with some commodity price increases but also now sales revenue as people like me go elsewhere.
Short-sighted to believe that customers are ignorant of price points and they'll learn their lesson through customer loss.
  • Let's all boycott Tesco until they realise that we're not stupid and can get most of their items cheaper elsewhere.
I think I have spent about £7000 in 2012 so that's what they're losing....if we all did this, guess what they'd be forced to do?
But don't go back as their customer care does not exist!

Already done it - and the large numbers of happy customers in the Aldi next to Tesco (now a lot emptier since Aldi opened) seem to have taken the same line!

Anything that Aldi can't supply (and the treats) come from the nearby Waitrose. :D

I'm doing the same. I used to shop almost exclusively at Tescos. Now I use Aldi and Asda for the things I can't find at Aldi. I compare the prices with Tesco every week and I've saved £69 so far this month by changing!

The only real way to make them hear your voice is to go elsewhere!
