I went tesco to buy lactose free milk in December 2012 and they put the price up from £1.29 to £1.39. i went to look at price today and the price is £1.35. ended up going to buy it from sainsbury's as their price is still £1.29
Also, i bought the walnut rolls and olive rolls the other day which are normally 4 for £1. couldnt believe it, i was charged £1.60 for 4 rolls. went back to the bread shelves and yes!! they've stopped selling 4 rolls for a £1. thats 60pence extra which means each roll has gone up by 15pence.
I shall go and buy a full loaf from sainsburys instead as it will cost about £1.50 for a whole loaf.
tescos are sneakily putting up the price for day to day items. thats bad news in the current economic climate. i shall have to start shopping elsewhere even for my day to day items:mad::D:eek:0

MRSA is now in the non-organic milk supply in the UK and in pigs in Europe. Anyone who lived through the BSE years in the UK still can't donate blood in the USA.
Where is the link to this please?0

MRSA ST398 in milk, pigs, poultry & cattle discussed here. There is no risk of MRSA infection to consumers of dairy products as long as the milk is pasteurized.phoebe03cat wrote: »

We were paying 30p for pasatta in Tesco, it's now 58p!
We were paying about 19p for their everyday dried spaghetti (500g) it's now 39p.
Tomato puree has gone up from around 35p to 58p.
Not too long ago tortilla chips were 19p, they are now 46p.
It all adds up and almost doubles your bill to what you were paying around a year or so ago :-(0

I found that too, it's expensive enough at the old price!
By the way it's £1.28 in Asda, I got mine from there:T0

I only shopped at Mr T when they gave me 6 weeks of coupons for £4 off £20. Then I only spent that if there were offers which were cheaper than Sainsburys (after staff discount).
When I go to Aldi, I don't go the one where I live - unless I am shopping at 8am or buying items which can go into 2 bags for life as there is a 15 min walk (uphill) to home as the car park is tiny! There are 3 others within 4 miles of here with large carparks - one of them is part of a retail park with 7 other shops. So depending on what I am doing and where I have been, decides which of the 3 I visit.0

As much as I hate Tesco, I can see why SOME (not all) prices have gone up.
Not many people realise the weather has a major part to play in price hikes. The crop yields are significantly down and there is huge demand from across the world for the little crops that have made it through the floods, high winds, little sunlight, too much sunlight, drought etc.
Obviously Tesco and it's suppliers are having to pay farmers more and in turn, Tesco charges it's customers more and rightly so!

Yes, but that's not what this thread is about. Those of us that keep track of this sort of thing, have noticed (in respect of a number of a different products), that Tesco have recently hiked their prices compared to what other supermarkets are charging. I could give you a list of products where for the past two years or so, Tesco charged more or less the same price as ASDA. Until about early December 2011 that is, when Tesco starting charging between 10% and 30% more. That's what's happened, and hence this thread.0
