Just want to say thank you for some of the info provided on my original post.
I am still not sure how I stand and if its worth doing anything or just accepting the way the handled it was wrong and that I will not receive any money or notice which stands to be about 8k.
I would like to clear my name as I still believe I was always in the end doing business for them.0 -

Firstly - there ARE NO MODS!!! There are volunteer guides like myself who can move posts and guide people to various areas that might help them etc...
Then you have a small dedicated paid MSE team - they deal with all the reports submitted - BGs may submit a report just like anyone else - but there are no MODS as such. If you don't like something you report it.
If you don't think there is enough pro-active "modding" then it's because this forum has hundreds of thousands of post each day across it... "modding" it would be physically impossible.
Secondly - in response to someone elses suggestion - if MSE was to allow one person to have their "qualifications" in their signature it would mean they endorsed and supported their ability and advise and would be liable in the event it was wrong and someone decided to go to court over it. It's not going to happen. Even BGs who have been here many years do not have their "qualifications" in their signatures - even if they are relevant!
I wouldn't question any of the experienced posters on this board in their dedication or knowledge - I'm even happy to be corrected by them... but personally I don't tend to post things I think are intentionally incorrect - I expect those who do are the minority... But there is a world of difference between someone saying "are you dumb or what?" and "sorry, I think your intentions are good but I believe you might be mis-informed because...."
Personally I react better and learn more from the second approach
I find it easy to be calm on this thread because it's not my area of expertise or something I have a great personal passion about. If this was something that was of great importance to me, or I had dedicated my career to then yeah I'd probably be a little blunt at times too (there are reasons I don't post on any pet related forums LOL).
MSE has a few very set rules - everyone agrees to them when they join and by remaining on here. The admin team are not forum members because they have to be as impartial as possible - unlike the BGs who know the boards fairly well on a personal level. Given the size and success of this I think in my personal opinion that it's proven to work pretty well?
It will never be possible for them to please all of us all the time - so they stick to the rules set out. No favours and no favouritism (not even to the BGs LOL) and I think that honestly is the only way it can work!
I'm as passionate as always, but I take more of a backseat even on things I am VERY passionate about - I might pipe up and try to as politely as possible disagree or correct, but once I have I tend to leave the matter. If it gets out of hand I'll report the whole thread and let the impartial team determine who if anyone has broken the rules.
Ultimately - those who do not want to help by reporting posts are just as culpable as those posting things that are against the rules. And those who don't like how the forums work are of course free to leave MSE and go elsewhereI think it would be a shame if anyone did, but I do feel very protective of the MSE team (BG and the Admin team who btw I have never met!) - there is always plenty of "how rubbish you all are!" posts... I'll let you go look for any "thanks for the great work you all do in your spare time, for free, because you care..." or "blimey - what a tough job MSE admin have... wouldn't want to be you guys having to try and stay impartial!"
MSE is free for people to use... not abuse
Oh yeah - and like my signature says - my views are my own and do not reflect the official line of MSEDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
My DFW Diary - blah- mildly funny stuff about my journey0 -

Great post, and couldn't agree more. Here's hoping the thread goes back to trying to help the OP.0 -

OP I think your questions have been answered haven't they? Have you written the letter?
I have written the letter and will send this tomorrow do let me know if this would be acceptable
I am writing to confirm that on arrival to work at 9:00am on Wednesday 2nd 2013 at the offices of xxxxxxxx I was verbally fired on the spot by the Director of xxxxxxxxxxx under allegation of gross misconduct.
I do not fully agree with the allegation and the way this was handled. Therefore I request to receive in writing the facts behind this decision along with a copy of the employee handbook.
I would like to take the opportunity in writing to action the formal grievance procedure, as I was not given the opportunity to follow the companies’ grievance procedure or ACAS processes.
I would request to receive the above within 14 days of receipt of this letter along with a cheque for any outstanding funds owed to me.0 -

I have no formal legal knowledge, as a lay person sounds good to me!
I would only give them 7 days but maybe that's just me0 -

Personally I would delete the bold bit; why do you want to use the grievance procedure?"fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, and wiser people so full of doubts." (Bertrand Russell)0 -
To the OP if I were you I would go to see an employment solicitor yourself because your employer can be taken to an Employment Tribunal for unfair dismissal for failing to follow the ACAS guidelines.
They are leaving themselves wide open and you could get a very big payout. I remember when Ed Balls fired Sharon Shoesmith over the baby P affair. They didnt have a hearing etc and just told her to get out.She got a massive payout of about £200K if I remember correctly.
Dont rely on this forum for advise, please just go and sort out proper legal representation for yourself.0
