But in fairness, how can MSE (or any of us for that matter) be expected to know that SarEl et al are genuinely qualified and others are not?

And even if it were possible to check credentials, it is perfectly possible for qualified folk to offer bad advice, and unqualified folk to offer good advice.

And in any case, who is sitting in judgement as to what advice qualifies as 'good' and 'bad'?

Beyond basic facts, little in the law is purely black and white. If it were, there would be no need for a legal system where a legal team argues each side of the case, a judge and/or jury makes a decision, and there are several possible levels of appeal.
Surely the answer is, if someone needs extremely important information and advice that if the internet didn't exist they would obtain from a professional, they'd consult the appropriate professional? Not seek it from group of random people, some of whom may claim to be this, that and the other.
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • I have sent a letter still not heard from them. I have also spoken with my solicitor who feels I have a strong case and should take it direct to court due to my high earnings for a clear case of unfair dismissal and valid reasons that forced me to take actions to support my self if I lost my job.
  • And this is exactly why we need people who tell it like it is! Advice like this will just end up with the OP getting all excited about a huge payout which is never going to happen whilst at the same time, admitting that the employer was right [not fully agreeing with the allegation].

    Doh!
    This!

I really hope you didn't send that letter, because you just dropped yourself in it.

"I don't fully agree" - means they had some cause to fire you. You agree to an extent.
  • I did not send that, I did as my solicitor told me which was to keep it short request the information related to the decision of me being fired and that I wish to appeal against it.
