Apparently my "posting style" isn't good enough for MSE. Being a barrister and telling the truth isn't good enough for them. So if I haven't been banned I am aspiring to be. http://www.redundancyforum.co.uk/
SarEl,
I have to say in some of your posts you do come across a bit aggressive / arrogant sometimes. I don't know if you mean to or if it just goes with your trade (I've met a few legal pros.. some are evil and some are like mad hatters lol). Anyway what I wanted to say is that all of your posts I've read whether I've liked your tone or not, have always been factual and to the point - picking up on things that others don't think of - stuff which could be used to sway an arguement.
I gotta admit, I have vague recollections of a few arguements with you myself lol but in fairness, you've always been right (except when I was). No seriously SarEl, you're a good poster and apart from being a bit abrupt you've always called a spade a spade.
Don't leave, you're a good member of this community. I'll admit, I don't always like the bad news that you put forward but at least you're saying it how the tw*t employers will argue it.
Anyway for what its worth SarEl, you've probably saved a lot of people from an unwanted legal mess (and bill) and that has got to count for something :beer:0 -
SarEl Personally I prefer a bit of bluntness and honesty if it helps people.
Warm cuddly "there there's" don't usually help people out of the messes they get themselves into, sound practical advice often does.
!!!!!! you are giving your advice for FREE, and very good advice it is. More power to your elbow I say, and thanks for your interesting and informative posts.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -
SarEl I admire your patience. You devote hours of your time helping others by providing your expert advice for free. For those of us who check into the site regularly we know who you are and we also understand your posting style. Your contributions are valued by many and can also be amusing when you use your humour.
Well said.0 -
ANYWAY, BACK ON TOPIC...
My guess is that the employer thought they might try and stop the OP getting any more info out of the company, and so put a complete stop to their access.0 -
Without sounding like a SarEl cheerleader, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw her return and am sincerely hopeful that she stays.
I have learnt a massive amounts from her posts that have helped me both as an employee and also as a manager.
SarEl is one of the people whos opinion you can actually trust - the problem with the internet is that anybody can claim to be anything and post any old rubbish, which can be devastating if somebody takes the wrong "advice" on an employment board.
I have noticed recently that people are using sites like MSE as an extension of facebook - they say they want advice, but in reality all they want is people to agree with them and to offer "hugs".
This site was inititally set up to actually help people who are in need and it would be a crying shame if it becomes just another gossip site without any substance.0 -
The actual problem is that people are pretending to be solicitors/legal professionals and when they get pulled up on misinformation they go on an offensive. And the MSE people don't know enough about employment law to know who is right and who is wrong and thus, just react with no background or indeed research into the actual issue.
MSE through SarEl and others provides an incredible service to those that can't afford their own employment lawyers. And MSE should hang their heads in shame at warning off SarEl. And issue an official apology.
Meanwhile they should monitor and ban IP addresses of those purporting to be in the legal profession but who are caught out time and again giving BAD ADVICE. Because on this board, bad advice doesn't mean food going off quicker or a deal being missed, it can mean the end of careers.
And livelihoods.
Shame on MSE and a word to everyone to keep their wits about them when someone calling themselves 'solicitors' is on here spouting nonsense. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
The contract does have a non-solicitation and non dealing with clause however as I am aware all they have is a draft mail I wrote which was never sent and the basic website test page.
I never took any business from them and today's the ltd company I set up has not started.
I will copy the exact wording tomorrow from the contract......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

The most important thing for yourself is if you believe in what you believe and you can hold your hand on your heart you have done nothing wrong or taken any data, files etc then you must clear your name. Any new employer in the future will want to know why you left your last employment its much better to say you won your case against un fair dismissal than say you was sacked for gross misconduct. Follow your heart.0

Because some people only want to hear what they want to hear, and some forum moderators only read what they want to read. I freely admit that after nearly a year of never posting here, I am now on a final warning for telling someone something they didn't want to hear that was true. And my answer was to the effect of "stuff it, I don't care" because there are sites that actually don't ban people for telling the truth. In factt I am only here now because of people that know and value my advice - and i expect to to be PPR'd any minute now under rules that have no investigation and no appeal. You thought employers were bad?
It's kind of why I've slowed down similar advice on the Student board, and stopped taking PM's. Got a nice PM from mods previously for accusing someone of fraud, even though they provided in their post for help ample evidence that they committed fraud.
Not the first forum to do so, and sure as hell won't be the last.0 -

To be honest, if a member of my staff had done that I'd have sacked them. However I would have made sure I followed the correct procedure to do it and completed a proper investigation in order to do so.If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0
