Guys... really? 2 of the only people who I listen to on this forum (I read it more than I post, but you have both offered me helpful advise in the past...)
I don't know the reasons for the warnings, but yes the rules are clear - BE NICE... and yes that's even if someone doesn't like/listen to good advise. Ultimately MSE has no way to verify your credentials, and IF you were not genuine etc in some cases they might be held liable if not careful. I am guessing though from your posts that this is about language choice and not advice content? If so then I'd agree with the warnings... if it makes you feel better I've been pulled aside in the past tooI don't post as much as I used to, because I just can't help my temper! If someone is stupid I'll blooming well tell them! Soooo.... now I try to not comment when it's something that is a bug bear of mine... I let people I believe to be stupid dig their own graves and I don't return to a thread once someone has tried to argue with me... I simply don't read it again - ever!
I'm a lot less stressed than I used to be too!
Stay calm, stick around... I'm sure lots of us would miss you!

Me.
I have never ever seen anything from either of these 2 that could be considered rude or aggressive. People get narky when they don't agree with them, which is utterly ridiculous when they rarely post opinions, preferring to deal in facts.
More thick skin and common sense required from people!0 -

A good rule to follow is attack the post content not the poster some posts stray far too far into the latter terratory.0 -

Ther is a little too much on this site of "attack everybody else" then report someone who reponds. Moderators need to consider context - not individual posts. Point in questionhttps://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4360837
- OP asks a question, has a go at everyone who responds, gets really narky becaise they don't get the answer the want and reports someone else! Here is one of the therads in question - have a look at post 22 - that was before the deleted posts that the OP reported, where they accused me of various heinous crimes based on a post they did not read! What I actually said is that the law does not permit time off, paid or unpaid, for medical appointments, unless a person is pregant, Anyone care to find a law that says otherwise? The OP in this case responded with vitriol about how I didn't know whether they were pregnant, male or female - and then reported me for saying that I didn't care, they still weren't entitled to time off. Context is everything. The context here was clear. I had already told the OP that attacking people because they couldn't have the advice they wanted wasn't on. They attacked me on the basis of misreading, deliberately or otherwise, what I told them - that they still couldn't have a legal right to time off unless they were pregnant - and that is the basis of a warning!
Sometimes I have a warm cuddly feeling towards employers. Not often, I admit. But sometimes...0 -

The trick is don't get involved in t1t for tat. same with the Toll type posters ignoring is the best tactic.
if some one has a rant because they don't like what they are reading let them. The best way to not care is to ignore. if it is abusive you have the option to report(I don't bother if someone has a go at me but will report something that over top relating to others).
Once a poster is not listening it can only go bad, move on.
edit : I see the BG thread is heading in the wrong direction. is there some law or something genetic that says barristers must have the last word;)0 -

Indeed, but it is unclear (to me) whether company has a disciplinary procedure or if it was followed. OP did not give us this information. Reading OPs other posts there is clearly a history of prior disciplinary meetings.
If a tribunal found that the boss did not follow acas guidelines, they are likely to determine OP has been unfairly dismissed. However there appears to be evidence of gross misconduct and if tribunal agree, I would suggest they are likely to decide OP is not entitled to any compensation."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I can see it from both sides.
SarEl I admire your patience. You devote hours of your time helping others by providing your expert advice for free. For those of us who check into the site regularly we know who you are and we also understand your posting style. Your contributions are valued by many and can also be amusing when you use your humour.
However you can come across as very blunt at times which some people will react to, especially if they are new posters who have no idea who you are. You appear to show little patience when questioned or criticised which I understand given your expertise but often the posters do not realise they are talking to an expert. Human nature, can be really annoying but I have to admit I am surprised that you often seem so upset about it as you have experienced it so much here and probably so much more in your line of work. This is when the threads often become inflamed and I can just feel your blood pressure rocket.
I think that the comment that this OP seemed to react to (rightly or wrongly) was 'pregnant which I doubt'. I think the OP took this as a personal jab - although it probably wasn't. That's the problem with forums you can misinterpret intentions so easily.
Anyway, I hope my comments are taken in the well intentioned way that they are meant. I wish you well and hope that you feel able to continue to help people but get to be able to enjoy it more than you seem to now.0 -

I will not be told that I am placing myself in danger by insisting that others observe the law. As the night in the cells demonstrates. For them. When people fail to enforce the law due to the (illegal) consequences, then there is no law - only fear.
But i accept you are otherwise perhaps correct, It is my passion that people not end up sacked that perhaps gets in the way of letting them go with their own stupidity.0 -

They are - shame the forum team have no such ability. The OP made it clear that the medical appointmnet was "embarassing" - which pregnancy is not. On that basis an assumption that is was not pregnancy related was fair and reasonable. I would point out that this comment was made AFTER I had cautioned the OP to not blame people for advice whih was legally correct - and which they continued to ignore. And the comment I made was correct and fair - resulting in a thoroughly nasty and personal attack on me for no reason because the OP didn't read what I said - as several people commented on! As I commented to getmore4less, perhaps my error at times is in being too passionate that people don't get themselves sacked through their own stupidity. Perhaps I should let them.0
