it was basically a circle of calico fabric a couple of inches bigger in diameter than the embroidery hoop, you draw a circle in pencil round hoop and mark 12 3 6 & 9 on to quarter it at the edges and mark center where youll need to put clock mecanisim through.. draw or trace you design on in pencil, use fabric pens or paints to colour design iron to make colours fast. if you are sewing buttons on do this now with fabric in the hoop otherwise you can glue them on later. you need a circle of mdf cut the same size as the inside of your inner hoop. take hoop off if youve put it on. then cut hole in middle for hands spike to come through. put mdf circle that has a hole drilled through the center on the back of your fabric place outside part of hoop around your drawing and pull fabric tight so is smooth. turn over and glue edges of fabric down flat onto back of mdf. then glue a circle of cardboard again with hole in middle onto back to tidy it up. if you havent already put buttons on glue them on now then following instructions that come with clock mecanisim fit that through the hols you made in the centre of your clock. you could bind ribbon adround the edge of the hoop if you want to.
you dont need the inner ring of the embroidery hoop so that could be used to make a dream catcher as another gift another time.

make sure you check what size hole you need drilling in the centre, ours fitted a pencil through and a few people had a job fitting their bit through the centre because they didnt cut the hole in the fabric big enough. the teachrs at my DS school are brill, they gave up their saturday so families could go into school and doing things together, it was all free. we did a treasure hunt in the morning took a packed lunch and the ukulele teachers played for us in the dining hall then we had 2 hurs of clock making. there was a choice of about 12 activities to pick from. Last year we did card making and uklele workshop - we made a uke out of an utterly butterly tub and then learned how to play it!

just nipped up and found it, it was brilliant fun, again we all made one but last year we were the lunchtime entertainment playing them for everyone. LOL

Mum2one thank you for the gift :)
So lovely. My 3 year old has taken a real shine to the little purse.

I bought some new books for the bags today. Popped in oxfam and there they were all black and red and fabulous looking!! 1 about house keeping and the other an old geography text. So the fat quarters I bought don't go at all and some plain black cotton and magnetic handbag clips are on their way from t'internet.

As for the old books I am going to read War and Peace (try to at least). I couldn't cut it up... Beautiful maps inside!
