I've tried this twice, and not got on with it. It's a very good idea, but it's worth trying to pick one up a bit cheaper first, in case you don't like it or it doesn't suit how you like to organise your finances.....have a look on the Org Mum website....you can click to view the pages so you get an idea of what it's like inside.

Mine to carry around with me has cost:

    A5 Ringbinder & 10 free poly-pockets - £2.33
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tiger-binder-punched-pockets-single/dp/B002LFD1WG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1358191441&sr=8-1

    5 part A5 Dividers - £1.50
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000NM2KJE/ref=oh_details_o06_s00_i00

All pages contained in it have been printed ....

    • 2013 year planner
    • Monthly planner (printed calender) for each month
    • Weekly planner incl meal plan & shopping list
    • Spending tracker sheets
So ... it's really not cost a lot & .... quite impressed with it so far!:)

I've printed some other pages off for a folder that I'll leave in the house (cleaning schedules, tel nos, emergency lists etc) but still work to be done on this one!
    Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)
    2016 Sell: £125/£250
    £1,000 Emergency Fund Challenge #78 £3.96 / £1,000
    Vet Fund: £410.93 / £1,000
Debt free & determined to stay that way!

Me too. I'm waiting for them to come down in my local tesco. I can't see them on t-direct. They are sold out on most of the online shops I've seen.

My only hic-up with this plan is that I need to go I store. I am trying to avoid that place until I am down to 1 litre carton of milk left.

The idea of this is great, but tbh, I won't use it :-(
I don't have an organised bone in my body, I have only just got into using a calander, well it has taken me 3 years to get into the habit of updating and checking every day, morning and might.
My aim is now to add in budgeting and shopping....

Thank you for the advice, I might keep an eye out for any left in Feb/march and see how cheap they are then.

  • I've finally got my system together, although it has been an expensive road getting there. I bought a page a day diary and having looked at it there were no notes pages or anywhere to write extras, then I forgot I had bought a kath kidson one before xmas and whilst it has nice pockets and things for notes the spaces were tiny for each day. So I trialled these 2 and then went back to work and drooled over a colleagues Busy Life diary from here:

    https://www.ktwoproducts.com/products/170_2013_busy_life_diary_1824

it has 2 sides for each week, work and home and nice pockets and loads of notes space so I ordered one of those.
I'm finally happy now with this one, the page a day I've decided will become my work notebook for the year for minutes of meetings, customer info etc each day - normally I would have a work diary and a notebook, so now I have the combined diary and the notebook diary - not found a use for the redundant KK one, will just have to put it down to experience.
I have also started a folder in the house coutesy of lots of the lovely printables posted here - menu planner, food inventories, renewal dates, info about standing orders, a section for trips/hols for all the print out of bookings etc.
I'm not 100% happy with everything but it's a start and I will know for next year what works etc.
  • Loving this thread and might actually try and utilise one of the methods for tracking expenses, bills, receipts etc. Especially receipts, we wonder where all the money goes and really should keep a closer eye on it.

Mind you, too close an eye on it and I might scare myself!! :D

    Receipts.
Ive just gotten 12 large envelopes. cut up a calander that i got in work (too big to hang up) the large current month i have tapped to the window for people to see so they can tell me what date suits, the small monthly calander that is at eitehr side of current month i have cut and taped to one of the envelopes. My plan is to store all receipts in correct envelope, and to mark the days that is a nsd on the calander, so i can see at a glance when i am spending and then hopefully see a patern, or at least it gives me something to work with next year and get more nsd's etc.

i keep getting a broken link, but i have pics on my blog - no words yet, i only put them their so i could link a picture! grr
