  • At the end of Christmas Day I always mark up in my notebook/diary suggestions for next year for meal, presents etc. I also mark up anything I need to replace,eg decorations

I do the same after holidays too - if I need new clothes or something that I have seen someone else with which I fancy.
  • beccatje and eeneymeeny, there's just me n the kids so not sure how it would work with a partner sorry. Both my kids know whats inside and where they would need to look in an emergency for stuff like log-ins, account no's etc but the majority of the 'planning' is bills, childcare arrangements and budget forecasting. The menu planning is in there but then the actual meals are transferred onto

See the beauty of doing your own planner is you can tailor it to what works for you, it took me about 6 months of re tweaking before i got mine to work spot on for me as you have to 'live' with it first. I'd recommend that whatever you first decide to go with only print off a months worth, when something doesnt work or you notice a tweak to be made stick it on a post it note on the page and then you'll know what to twiddle before you print of the next months and so on.

  • So annoyed! Bought a lovely diary from WHSmiths for this year, and the elastic keeping it closed broke yesterday, after I'd spent ages and ages writing stuff in it. I could have cried! Now on the hunt for a new one and looks like I'm stuck with a plain one from Staples. Not impressed :(

I keep a list of meals and shopping at home but take a photo of it on my phone just before I go out in case I'm passing useful shops. In fact I take photos of all kinds of things (eg books in book shops to see if the library has them; things like electronics in shops to see if cheaper online..., small ads in the local shop so I have the phone number to ring them when I get home). It's really handy.

I also have one big home organiser file with a pocket on the front for all phone numbers; I also keep in it lists of local shop opening hours; meal plans/list of favourite meals; recipes; rotas that we're on; etc etc. The idea is from the Aby Garvey website www.simplify101.com and it really helps. When DH or DS say 'where's the number for xxx?' I can tell them exactly where it is which saves me time and means they do the phoning, not me!

lucy_lemon couldn't you just use a elastic band or a piece of ribbon around it, not as pretty I know but it would save you buying a new diary and having to fill it all out again :)

I've just discovered this thread, and I'm addicted!

I am a stationary freak anyway, and an unorganised one at that.

I live on my own, with my cats, but I work really long shifts so by the time my days off start I'm knackered.

I've decided that 2013 is to be the year I get my life in order. Theres so much needs doing at home - from general sorting and decluttering to DIY jobs, redecorating etc and I want to get it all done and dusted.

I'll be having a look at all the links you guys have given me for printables, and I think I'll be carrying a smaller version of something on me for lists etc.

Is it wrong I'm so excited to get started on this ?
