Real fires are lovely. We considered buying a house that had one of those and a 100' rear garden. Luckily my mother wrote us a very formal letter pointing out all of the faults with the house and we didn't proceed :rotfl:

:rotfl: I wish my mother had written me a letter pointing out all the faults with my house before I bought it. However, we weren't on speaking terms at the time so I bought it anyway.

    Happy new year, everyone. :)
    2018 totals:
    Savings £11,200
    Mortgage Overpayments £5,500

I've posted a reflective post about 2014 on my blog today, looking back on the year and talking through the aims I set at the beginning of the year :)

2014 has been pretty good for us - we've traveled to some amazing places, spent time with family and friends and made more memories than we can count. We celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary, decorated the kitchen and got a new bathroom, and lots of little bits in between.

    Here's to 2015 being even better :)

Happy New Year everyone  _party_

We're slowly getting back to normal in the SF household - I'm in the process of taking down the decorations (though the house looks so bare without them!) and sorting through some stuff.

I can't believe the holidays are almost over :( just the weekend left and then it's back to work :( I haven't thought about/done anything for work over the holidays, I'm so not ready to go back there yet. Sigh.

Started off my savings for 2015 with a massive 51p :o:D account tidies add up though! :p Only another £7,999.49 to go to reach my aim ;) every little helps though :)

Also made a £44.87 OP this morning to start that off. Our mortgage now stands at £104,9XX (can't remember exactly) so I think that with a bit of perseverance, it will go under the £100,000 mark this year :j :j I'm sure that once it gets 5 figures, it'll go down faster somehow :)

being in the 5 figures makes such a difference psychologically!

I have a mountain of marking that I am successfully ignoring. (I'm sure the true success of this plan will be called sharply into focus on Monday morning)!

Oddly enough, the last 3 posts in your thread (including this one) are from people with £104-106k left on their mortgages, spooky! :rotfl:
