That pork belly sounded delicious

Your utility DD is wonderful, our high ceilings currently cost us £160/mth to heat

c. 1900, we'll either be going for something 1930s or older next time (wall cavity), or somewhere where we can afford to retrofit to current regulations. A character property pimped out with solid wall insulation, new windows, underfloor heating etc. would be lovely, but mebbe a bit unrealistic considering our current estimate of maybe £180-200k spend.0

One day I want us to live in a cottage, with a real fire and a comfy armchair
I can't wait!

Real fires are lovely. We considered buying a house that had one of those and a 100' rear garden. Luckily my mother wrote us a very formal letter pointing out all of the faults with the house and we didn't proceed :rotfl:0

She wrote you a letter? :rotfl: She must have not liked it! I do like a real fire - my parents have one and I love it when we're at their house

Quite a big letter... This will maybe be why my siblings didn't ask their opinion before purchasing

We took it for what it was, a well meant loving gesture despite being a bit 'rigid'.0 -

Build some mezzanine floors :rotfl:.
:T to your mum's letter Ed :rotfl:.
Glad you've had a good break SF :T.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
