Glad you had a nice weekend.

Hope the cabinets are right for you. :) I've been there plenty of times with the furniture, looking for the right piece forever. I usually end up buying a couple of pieces, restoring them, putting them in the room and deciding they just aren't quite "right". Then I end up having something made to my own design only to decide to change in a couple of years anyway. Ends up costing such a lot in terms of both time and money even though I'm in the trade.

£215 for car insurance is very good. :) Hope you've paid for year as they do charge if you pay monthly.

    I love the weekend :)

Me and DH have been furniture shopping today and have finally found some bedside tables that we like! We've been searching for about a year (not even kidding...) for some that would fit in our bedroom and that are big enough as I tend to have quite a lot of stuff on my bedside table :o we got them in the sale for £119 each which we thought was a good bargain. We've ordered them so as soon as they arrive at the shop we'll be down to pick them up. I'm so happy!

So, today ended up being quite a spendy day, but I'm not too worried :) our finances are looking quite good at the moment *touch wood* and I think we've found a car insurance renewal for £215 for the year which is excellent :D that's due just before the end of January so need to get that sorted really.

I've currently got goulash bubbling away in the SC and it smells so good  we're going to have that later with a jacket potato. I also have this rice pudding in the oven, which also smells fantastic. I've never made rice pudding in the oven before - only on the hob - so I'm looking forward to that. I'm going to make a quick warm berry compote to go with it :) it's a good job we don't eat like this every day, otherwise I'd be really fat ;)

I'm trying to ignore the fact that the weekend is almost over :( I'd love to work a 4-day week, just so I could feel like I'm more organised. There is never enough time to do anything! Well, I could be more productive, but with work, writing blog posts and other stuff with that, then everything else in the house, it seems like the time just flies by. I'll be 90 before I know it :o

    Happy Sunday everyone :)

Well they want you to work to 68 don't they? At least the time will pass a bit more quickly (not that either of us plan on working that long ) :rotfl:

I love my 4 day week. My day off is always extremely busy and I wish it was a Friday instead of a Monday but it pays Ok and I don't feel like everything is as much of a struggle as it is full-time. I rarely did less than 50 hours and that is just too much for me :o

Well done on the furniture purchase :T I think the price sounds great, especially as you waited to find the right ones :)

Anyway, it's a 5 day week for me this week so I best get on...

Alex - as we waited til we found the right ones, the bedside tables will be fine I'm sure :) and of course we pay yearly! We are MSE'rs after all ;)

Janey - I'd love to work 4 days, maybe one day! I can't wait for the bedside tables to arrive :)

Sounds like you had a good weekend.

Good result on the furniture - it's very pleasing when you find just the right thing:)

slowlyfading: I often think I've found the "right" thing then after a few months change my mind. This likely sounds a bit "OCD" but I can't stand different woods (due to the grain) or pieces clearly from vastly different eras in the same room, so have learnt I can't really buy pieces in isolation.

I remember when I was looking to buy a house other peoples mismatched furniture really annoyed me. :o

Ah, you see, that doesn't bother me at all. We can't be too fussy when we don't have much money to spend ;)

    Another day done :)

I cannot believe how gloomy and dark it is today - it really does make my motivation disappear. Getting up this morning was so hard; it was difficult not to just turn the alarm off and go back to sleep! I'm going to get an early night tonight and see if that helps.

Another NSD today; took a packed lunch to work as normal. Had leftover goulash with pasta for tea :) very tasty!

Other than that, nothing to report. Posted a blog post about saving for a holiday today if anyone wants to check that out.

I wish I could not be so fussy about furniture, it drives my wife mad!

I'm definitely interested in your saving for a holiday blog if you would be so kind as to send a link. :)

Thanks for sharing my blog Janey :)

I've been off work today - feel really yucky :( kept going dizzy when I tried to do anything this morning, including getting out of bed. It's improved during the day but still feel pretty rubbish. We were supposed to be going to friends for tea tonight but I've just sent DH instead.

As I've not moved off the sofa most of today, it's been a NSD. I've picked at food during the day, not been particularly healthy but not worrying about that today.

Might have a relaxing bath later and then an early night :)
