I like to try too, I'm going to start high though at £10 for August because I know we throw ALOT! Especially with the kids but I'm not going to include what they don't eat off their plates because I can't do much about that especially the 1yr he loves throwing things on the floor when he's finished lol. And 4yr is very fussy!
Iv started well today though, froze 1/2 a banana one them didn't eat and used some past the date tomatoes in a pasta bake and used eggs that where going off tomorrow for egg mayo sandwiches at lunch time. Iv not thrown anything today and I'm going to rejig meal plans to use up everything that's hanging around :)

Hi I would like To join in to as I through to much away,so put me down to start with for £10,I will lower this over the coming months.

There is now only me and other half as my dd moved out a week ago.
I am having to think about how I shop especially with fresh and veg, not buying a whole bag of thins ie onion, potatoes, carrot so by the time you get to the bottom of the bag they have gone off, just buy loose a few at a time.

This month I have done a rough meal plan my big shop is next Friday I have a list and I am going to stick to it I am doing the grocery challenge and need to stick with it

Well done for using everything up.

Someone once gave me a tip to see if eggs are fresh as they are often good well beyond the date on the pack.

It involved putting them in water to see if they float - unfortunately I can't recall the detail but will try to find where I noted it - unless someone else knows?

Thanks! I have heard of that tip before but didn't know which way round it was! Nothing thrown today as of yet, we actually used every last slice of bread and I used a half eaten bag of choc buttons and a an opened for months jar of peanut butter to make cookies, I think they've all been eaten already as everytime anybody goes in the kitchen they come back with one lol.

I read this thread yesterday and found it really interesting. I thought I was really good until I went through the freezers today and had to throw out lots of food which had gone way past good. I'm so ashamed and annoyed with myself.

So anyway I would like to join you all in trying to waste as little as possible. So from the remainder of this month I'm going to challenge myself to £5 which seems bad.
