Personally i wouldnt drink red even a week after its been opened as i think its ruined, however i would use it in cooking for sauces etc...

Not sure about noodles.. are they egg noodles? If so i probably wouldnt but rice noodles yes.

    :) RC

Thanks for your reply :) Yes I did intend to use the red wine for cooking - I just haven't got round to cooking anything...... I haven't batch cooked in months!!

As for the noodles, they are m&$ fresh singapore noodles. I'll check the ingredients for the egg content. I think I would have been happy to eat them yesterday but I'm not so sure about eating them tonight....
  • Hi any red wine or for that matter white I do what Nigella dose and freeze the wine in ice cube try's when froze. Place in a freezer bag so that when you need some for cooking you can use as many as you need.

  • hi, is it possible to freeze potatoes, as l buy 5lbs & they don't last before they go soft & start seeding. l keep them in the shed but it's not keeping them from going off.
  • peel and chop them into the shapes you want and blanch them for ten minutes - freeze....should be fine!!

I normally find that they are okay and don't sprout as long as they have no light getting to them but there are always some sacks that just don't behave!!:rotfl:

  • Today I have cut up and frozen 2 quarters of peppers that looked like they were on the turn. I have also peeled and chopped about 5kgs of apples so that I can make jam later in the year and have frozen 3kgs of blackberries ready for jams etc. the apples and blackberries were free as we went fruit foraging.

I also cleaned my larder cupboard out and found 'Regetta' it is some sort of pasta thing but not sure what I would use it for.....don't even remember buying it! Has anyone any ideas what I can use it for?

Mmmmmmmmm, looking at the ingredients it's 100% durum wheat semolina so I am guessing it's probably a fancy ish pasta but in very long flat strands with frilly edges?

Can anybody offer some foodie advice? I hate eating the crumbs at the bottom of cereal packets for m breakfast and have instead been saving them. Has anyone any ideas of how I could use these instead? I was thinking crumble topping etc but can't find any recipes that use them. Any ideas appreciated as I don't really just want to ditch them! Thanks

Just normal pasta then...I would have it with a tomato, basil, caper and olive sauce (mainly cause they are my favourite ingredients!!) but any of the usual pasta sauces that you like will do fine :D

Always good on a fish pie with a potato topping....just add them once you have put the potato on....alternatively, you could use them as a crispy coating on fish cakes, add crushed to breadcrumbs to coat, anything like that will do.....if you want to use them as a crumble, I would just mix them up with the usual crumble topping for extra crunch!!;)

Having a bit of a use up day today.....found a couple of jars of manzano chillies in the cupboard, so have boiled them with a sugar syrup to make chilli jelly....tastes fab but blows your face off!!

Had some apples that were somewhat past their best so have made them into a crumble with some blackberries from the garden- currently bubbling away in the oven along with the Sardinian lamb I am cooking at the moment ....also whacked some dodgy looking tomatoes, garlic and greek basil into a pot and stuffed them in the oven to cook off - will be blitzed and put into the freezer for a pasta sauce for next week...making use of the oven while it is on so also have a few jacket potato sized spuds in there and will make a corned beef and potato pie when they are cooked as know that I have a tin of corned beef in the cupboard which has been there for a considerable amount of time!!:D

Hoping to make some lamb curry and some lamb and veg pies from the leftovers....will have to get it quick though before ds & dh raid it all!!:rotfl:
