Not sure if this is the right place to post this or not...but was just wondering does anyone know...how long does unopened screw top wine keep for?? Have been deep cleaning my kitchen and have thrown out these sort of metal warrior suits for wine bottles that my brother had when he lived in the house...I have thrown out the warrior suits but am wondering is the wine still good to drink/give to people as gifts??
    Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
    My savings: £4878.54/£7000
    Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000
    Total:£7564.11/£10 000 (as at 26/10/14)
  • I should imagine it would keep for a long time, if in doubt, google it, should find some info about it that way.Am managing to remain quite inventive and focused on using up leftovers and not making too much food. ( a common bad habit of mine.)
And pleased to say I still haven't thrown anything out yet. j:
How's everyone else who joined in doing?
:j Good things come to those who coupon. :j

  • I have some mushroom rissotto no one seems inspired about eating, it was great hot out of the pan other night but now looks a bit beige and drab. Thinking about making into little fritters to have with salad tonight unless anyone else has any better ideas?
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

  • Have to admit to throwing half plateful of HM chicken curry out yesterday. Was not feeling well and jus cold not manage full plate. As it had already been frozen I just didn't want to risk keeping it for another day.

Have made far too much Minestrone soup today so must play Tetris with freezer.
Use it up, Wear it out, Make it do, Do without.
  • I have thrown away half a YS beef tomato as made far too much and 1 very hard and dry YS pitta pocket found in the bottom if the freezer loose. Probably about 15p in total . Will update signature shortly. Nearly halfway through the month so think I'm doing pretty well so far.
Hope everyone else is enjoying the challenge.

I have a can of chick peas that DH bought on a whim ages ago, can anyone suggest what I can use them in please? I am not a huge curry fan. I seem to manage to use most of my food...apart from the things DH buys because we might use them when he goes out shopping!

Humus!! Buy some tahini paste (lasts for ages and you can also make salad dressings with it), add lemon juice & olive oil, whizz up ina blender and bingo - delicious homemade humus.
  • Thrown out half tub of coleslaw I had thought was ok but when opened it had curdled. Then I checked the use by date - 8 days past it so no wonder.

    Slap on wrist for me!!
