Glad to read people on here are still making progress. Everything seems to have stopped here for the time-being. Mum's funeral is on Friday so this week is going to consist of mainly writing and printing the order of service booklets and getting the family suitably dressed.

I took my eldest daughter last week to buy her outfit (she has lots of black clothes but usually wears rock/emo style) but her younger sister doesnt even seem to own anything dark, so need to take her after school on Tuesday.

Got someone round on Friday to see to the dogs wile we're away, but luckily the decluttering done so far means I'm not too embarassed about her seeing the house. I'll try to quickly tidy the kitchen table so at least one room looks organised :)

I have realised one thing though. Some of the things I have in this house have lost their velue to me. Looking around the lounge, there's things I like, but will be happy to move out to make room for some of my parents "treasures". And by treasures - not things that are worth a lot cash-wise, but have happy memories.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Pudsey

Thanks for your well wishes people! I'm still not great but HAVE to go to work today although its going to
B more of a struggle in the snow.

I keep thinking if I can just be ok tonight and tomorrow night then I've got we'd, thurs and Fri to get myself better

I'm actually really angry at OH Who stayed in bed for 24hrs and is now absolutely fine today, so nice for him! Don't think he quite understands the strain I'm under

Have managed to do 2 washings one is hanging on the horse and one is still in the machine and I've tidied out the hat and scarf boxes (ok only one the contents of the other are strewn across the livingroom floor for now). Don't think I will get much more done before having to leave for work at half 12

Hopefully if I feel a bit better I can actually get into some proper de hoarding on wed

    I've been Money Tipped!
We had a bereavement yesterday (one of my horses). I find it odd that I desperately want to go to the tip to rid us of rubbish.

This year - I'm intrigued to know what it was you and your husband were talking about that made nosy lady so nosy! Must have been an interesting topic! :D

Just that I've a very podgy tum and really could do with losing a few pounds. And then some more. :o It's all the fault of chocolate, it tastes too nice! My mental image of how the suit would look did not match the image I saw in the mirror. :(

After an awful Mother's Day (they seem to get worse every year, DD is still too little to do anything for it and other half is the most uncaring, thoughtless man I know), I don't feel much like decluttering tonight. Instead I'm waiting for him to go to bed so I can have a cuppa and watch Game of Thrones. :(

Sorry you had a poor Mother's Day xx

So sorry to hear that :(
I have a v long old wooden ladder which I plan to make into a ladder garden - and people keep asking for them to do the same on freecycle which convinces me I will do it one day ...

A what??? ladder garden? I'm intrigued!

I expected a little more from my other half as it was also my birthday yesterday as well as mothers day. I got a nice bunch of flowers which my partner picked up that morning (from the garage I suspect), but the mothers day card wasnt even signed by the kids as he didnt ask them to!

My birthday cards from him and the kids didnt even arrive - he ordered them online so obviously left it to the last minute!

No birthday present - so told him I'd like part 1 and 2 of breaking dawn on dvd (the last one is released today)

My birthday cake turned out to be a gateau I added to the shopping list that afternoon.

And I spent the afternoon getting covered in mud as the pony my son loans, refused to come in so we had to trek across a VERY muddy field to get him. One of the bigger horses in the field snapped at him and I only saved myself from sitting in the mud by grabbing hold of his neck!

  • LIR - sorry about your loss :(

Hugs to everyone - I can barely cope and I don't have any children.

I had a wee light bulb moment yesterday. Was feeling somewhat discouraged as for all the emotional trauma of throwing stuff out, there is no evidence of this. Then, I went to put a bag of wool away, and there was space in the box and I could put it away! Thats it, there is now more space to put things away!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Need to sort out the table of doom though. Covered in things to do, things to deal with, stuff I don't know what to do with, stuff to remind me to do things.....and a small box of bunny cake decorations!

    I've got piles!

Well, it made me laugh. I have piles everywhere of three or four jobs on the go, and I am realising that I haven't got a hope of getting it all finished by the time the family come home. I am resisting the urge to empty the dishwasher as I know that is a displacement activity. Must crack on.

Sorry to hear of losses and funerals.

LIR, I always blitzed the kitchen whenever I spilt up with a boyfriend when I was younger. With gallons of bleach. It was either a 'spring clean/new opportunities' kind of feeling or perhaps a 'dispose of the body' for one or two!

Pile of hugs here. Please help yourself if you need one today.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Sorry to hear of your loss LIR, WW that is something I do as well. I also think it has something to do with taking back some control.
