Hoarding - A New Start

DH has taken the children to see his mum after his work today so it's just me and Amy Winehouse at home.
House is tidy and pretty much all household chores are up together.
I'm making really good progress on the financial paperwork, apart from email and internet banking not being fully available, so I can't print off some stuff.
Decluttered a hamperful of gifts for MIL, so space in my presents drawer now.
Have an organised list of things to remember.
Two downsides to this latest great week. One is that I am shattered and have a slightly sore throat. Two is that I have a meeting later in the week and I won't have done what I was supposed to for that and I don't know how the other attendee will take it. (I am fine in that I am prioritising properly; sometimes people forget there are only 24 hours in a day).
Keep at it everyone, as you can see I joined MSE years ago and it is only now that things are beginning to come together. This thread has really helped me get rid of the stuff I don't need, which has made life easier in so many unimagined names (nb not easy, just enjoyable challenges rather than hassles). Thank you Jojo.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Look after yourself, there's some nasty bugs around. If you're ill, you're ill. Hope you feel better soon xx
Brighton Belle, well done! Well organised.
Wise words, Whitewing. There are only 24 hours in a day.
Went out today in the snowto buy a suit for interviews. M&S had nothing in store (wanted to buy with some vouchers I had and the ones I seen online looked good) Debenhams they were all a nasty shiny material and looked cheap (but price tag said otherwise) got one in next, had to go up a size as it was tailored, but it's really lovely on. I felt really great in it.
Woman behind us in the queue while we were discussing the suit skirt/trouser options nearly got into OH's coat as she was earwigging our convo so hard! I said to OH that we can discuss this at home as the woman behind you is listening to us. She immediately began to study the item she was carrying, it was so obvious that she had been listening. Nosey! She was leaning right over his shoulder! I should have turned around to give him a kiss, :rotfl:
More ebay stuff out, only small stuff but it's making a difference.0 -
Catriona,
Why not keep an eye out on freecycle for a replacement anyway? If you can get the right sized replacement for nothing, then you could maybe make a decision about the current one.
Also do you or hubby have a noticeboard at work? You could try selling thro there. I found people are sometimes more willing to buy when it's through somewhere they 'know'.
Thanks Whitewing - my work has an online 'noticeboard' and I've had the dining set up there for a few weeks but no go, I'm starting to think I'm asking too much. If it doesn't sell on eBay this time (same old story, currently has watchers but no bids), I'll drop the price to as low as I'm willing to go.
Hope you feel better soon sjprmc01! And yes, my other half does the same if we're both ill!
This year - I'm intrigued to know what it was you and your husband were talking about that made nosy lady so nosy! Must have been an interesting topic!
After an awful Mother's Day (they seem to get worse every year, DD is still too little to do anything for it and other half is the most uncaring, thoughtless man I know), I don't feel much like decluttering tonight. Instead I'm waiting for him to go to bed so I can have a cuppa and watch Game of Thrones."Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0 -

Spent most of Mothers Day reducing DD's highsleeper bed to normal bed.
At one point the whole of upstairs was trashed and I regretted starting. But now all 3 bedrooms are back to normal, looking smart.
Pity about the hallway which is now full of dismantled desk that was under the highsleeper and the legs and ladder from the highsleeper. Just don't know what to do with it allAMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0077 come and join us :hello: make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board.0 -
I've done some more sorting. I'm pleased with how well it is going, apart from having a strop because we ran out of printer paper. I am a bit ashamed of myself for stropping at DH about it (his fault, of course), although not quite ashamed enough to actually apologise just yet.
ffm, ladders sound such useful things, but I have no ideas unless you have the kind of kitchen that it could be used to hang things from.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Oh Hai everyone! (((hugs))) to your bugs and BB, thanks for thinking of me Friday
also ((hugs)) to anyone for whom today was a tough day, due to mums no longer being around or for difficult relationships with them
I've decided my whole house is a hot spot - most of the clutter is new in and very relevant to a current project/nice little earner but I still seem to operate on an "in sight/in mind" system and need to keep it where I trip over it, even though I couldn't forget the project if I tried.
I had some LBMs over the last few days though, glasses, cupboard full of them even though I always use the same one and don't host many parties (!) - once out of the cupboard to wash to cs I realised how dated they look, very 80s
Big query on the clothes front - it is nice going down the sizes and I am enjoying wearing clothes that were always a bit too tight, but for things like jeans I need to go down a size again and can't decide whether to buy new, or is the new lower size permanent, in which case why not just alter the ones I like? And I need a smaller leather belt but will I be brave enough to get rid of this one, when it was so hard to find an extra long one when I needed itYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -

I have managed to declutter 3 large carrier bags of stuff belonging to eldest daugher by taking it back to her flat for her. She kept forgetting to pick it up and take it home with her. Next up is the table and 2 chairs my dad bought over last night for her.
Am slowly bagging up youngest daughters outgrown toys to go to charity shop.0
