Hoarding - A New Start

Glad to read people on here are still making progress. Everything seems to have stopped here for the time-being. Mum's funeral is on Friday so this week is going to consist of mainly writing and printing the order of service booklets and getting the family suitably dressed.
I took my eldest daughter last week to buy her outfit (she has lots of black clothes but usually wears rock/emo style) but her younger sister doesnt even seem to own anything dark, so need to take her after school on Tuesday.
I will be thinking of you this week Pudsey and be here when you need us after that, Funerals can sometimes almost be the easy bit, as they are structured and can be a chance to see people who are usually spread about
I got quotes for storage units yesterday, to convince myself to speeeeeed up ... hmmm, quite cheap actually ... hum hum ... 1p a week ...
... managed to halve the space some hoarding was taking up today, by visualising moving it into a 15' unit
Ladder garden here - it's a variation on household clutter but for the garden!

Thinking of you Pudsey. I hope you find the perfect outfit for your girls that they feel really good in.
Liking the ladder garden, but I am rubbish at consistantly looking after plants in pots and their watering needs.
We gave our neighbours full use of our (very small) front garden a few years ago,as they loved gardening and our spaces are so small and our side looked pathetic and they were keen for more. Then they most unreasonably had a baby and for some reason, all gardening has ceasedIt was a great idea while it lasted though.
Does anyone else lie in bed at night and mentally ruthlessly declutter the whole house. But when you get up the next day, the oomph has gone and you are back to shuffling on slow speed again?
I am sure if I could just point and things disappeared, that would make the whole process a lot easier. However, I did finish the great craft declutter yesterday and I now just need to off load a few bits and pieces to c.s. and chuck the rest.
Helped a friend today by collecting 8 bags of stuff for c.s. from their front door as they are moving at the end of the week: so much easier to take someone else's stuff when there is no attachment.
LIR - sorry about your horse - you have previously wrtten with great love and passion about it.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Liking the ladder garden! We saw something very similar the other year at Clarence House - it was a chest of drawers with the plants hanging out of the open drawers. Very impressive!
(Not that we generally hobnob with Royalty, the gardens were open to the public :rotfl:)
Brightonbelle, I dream I'm decluttering. Then wake up and realise it was just a dream. Then actually achieve probably 1% of what I had dreamed was possible.

I got rid of 3 binbags of stuff today. Some was the stuff DH had 'hidden' as he couldn't be bothered to dump it off, or state that he didn't feel inclined to do it. I am really pleased with him though as there was a small pile of worn and raggedy clothes of his ready to go for rags. Unlike me, he doesn't feel the need to make a grand fanfare whenever he does some decluttering.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Don't think going in to work was an exceptionally good idea but it's done now and I am done in feel stuck on a roundabout I wanna jump off but can't
and as in working so much I want to make the best (de cluttering wise) of the time I'm off which I don't so as I feel so darned ill. Sorted out some clothes and found a jacket I'd promised to someone but this was all stuff that was away tidy in the cupboard anyway didn get rid of much.
I echo the hugs to everyone who needs them although right now I need about a million but then I'd just cry that's the way I feel right nowNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80 -
I checked my horoscope the other day - something along the lines of "you are getting somewhere so keep chipping away - just check whose rock it is you're chipping at" - it has stuck in my mind because actually, yes, I have been concentrating on my current commission, a charity job and a voluntary job and making progress for all of them, but not much happening on my own decluttering front which has suffered somewhat due to my commitments to the other 3 causes
Oh yes BB I even decorate from my bed too, I can't count how many times I have papered the cracks and painted the ceiling in the 15 years I've been here, but in reality - big 0
Good luck to everyone with their chipping
Actually I did manage a bit with bookshelves - one had collapsed and I was a while getting new brackets - when I put the books back there was only half a shelf-ful as I'd got rid of some, so I was able to create little pockets of wooden/glass display boxes among the books a la aspirational homes magazine - freed up some floorspace as the wooden boxes had been stacked on floorYou never know how far-reaching something good, that you may do or say today, may affect the lives of others tomorrow0 -
Really sorry to hear about your loss, LIR.

Uh-oh. Just in from work and I spy 2 large (empty) primark bags on the kitchen table......so tomorrow there will be a hunt to see what has entered the house courtesy of granny's againNo more unnecessary toiletries Feb 2014 INS: 24 UU: 13. Mar 2014. INS: lost count, naughty step for me! UU: 80

I like reading my horoscope - it reminds me to be positive.
I'm burning the candle at both ends at the moment - have a lot to do but am achieving a lot too.
sjpr - yes, there are some days that all the hugs in the world don't feel as though they'd fill you up. Have a lovely sleep and hope tomorrow (today) is better for you.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I echo your sentiments Mcculloch, I live where this week's big meet takes place so hoping all have a good time, stay safe and all the horses make it safely home. It's a great time to live here, even if the town is left in a terrible state once all the racegoers have dragged themselves home. It takes weeks to 'declutter' the town of rubbish!
The racing's looking a bit ropey for today though!
Thinking of you Pudsey, LIR and sjprmc01. x"Why, this is hell, nor am I out of it."0
