Emailed both Luxor and Excal to say i will cancel my bookings tomorrow unless they respond to the 'Best rate guarantee' email i sent them with regards to my bookings...
Got this response which really shows they are incompetent! (and to note, screenshots and URL's i sent them were in Dollars with a £ conversion on the quickrooms website, even Lowcostusa.co.uk do similar rates...)
Normally with these things they will want to go to the website to verify the price themselves (people can do great things with Photoshop after all). Likely when they go to the Quickrooms website the default currency is not USD. Websites that allow you to choose the option to view the price in a different currency will be applying an exchange rate, obviously - whether that is a reasonble exchange rate or not probably needs to be confirmed - as far as I understand those sorts of conversions are indicative only.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Thats the link i gave them, no photoshopping there !
I think it boils down to the same thing, its easy to say you can do the best rate, but when you get a real competitive price, you back track (or not so in Aria's case!)
LowCostUsa.co.uk do similar rates..........
Not fussed now anyway, quite happy to cancel to both the Excal/Lux and look at doing LVH and Flamingo
The pool looks pretty good and big at Flamingo, so that could be a good thing! and the rooms look good too, i see that TravelRepublic are doing a B&B rate, very tempting that is!!! Only thing i worry about is my waist line expanding every morning with that option !haha !
Although, in my budget, i do have the option for 5 nights at Flamingo or 5 nights at the MGM.......... hmmmmmmmmmmmmm, MGM does have the appeal, and looks like they got nice big pools too ?! what to do!0 -
Thought you might be lurking somewhere to offer advice about your "local"
2 x 10 night trips booked for this year already. Must say it's getting harder to get a really cheap deal from them now that Claire has gone. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
I didn't suggest you could Photoshop a link, but a screenshot...but that link's primary currency is GBP, not USD...the USD rate is indicative and they would (presumably) want to confirm that they were happy with it rather than relying on a 3rd party with no association to confirm what the USD rate was.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Just messing however you can edit the total amount inside that link:

you are some sort of wizard!
that's amazing.
maybe it's not amazing to someone who understand what you've done but by golly it is to me.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Ferf.....
I did send screen shots of the booking I made it, with the total dollar rate and £ conversion, also sent the URL to backup the screen shot.
My guess us they don't want lose over $100 due to the fact UK sites are always 99% of the time cheaper than booking direct...
It worked for the guy who did it against Aria resort, I've done nothing different, just a shame the dept that deals with promo bookings for Aria doesn't also deal with Excalibur/Luxor.....0 -

What you do is obviously entirely up to you, but if it was me i would put less emphasis on the price and go for a combination of location and price and not worry to much about a price match but go for a good deal.
I wouldnt want to stay at LVH as it is way to far off strip
flaming is great IMO, location cant be beat, rooms are good especially if you get a go room, the pool is large but has gone downhill since they made it adults only, apparently lots of things in the pool that you really wouldnt want to see0 -
yeah, noticed LVH looks a little off strip, but they got that tram thing working every 10 mins, so thought that would be kinda cool ?!
Flamingo looks nice and so on, but if your meaning theres a lot of drug stuff going on around the pool (know weekends are for kids there, hence going in the week), then that would put me off!!!!
Good thing is i got time i guess to get the hotels right (seeing as i made the flights have a risk! hah!)
Will keep u all posted with the price matches for here and there anyway0
