    Hi all,

For anyone who has been to Vegas before, what month would you recommend between May and Sept,

I know its the desert but I would rather not go in the boiling hot, or the rain, is this too tall an order, will you always get one or the other,

From that range May or September for us...have been twice in June and both times said never again, too too hot for us to enjoy ourselves but we do not like the heat much...would not want to experience July or August. :)

You can get an idea of averages here:

    http://www.weather.com/weather/wxclimatology/monthly/USNV0049

Click on the month you're interested in and you can see daily averages each day of each month.

They are only averages but gives you a good idea at least.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

Ive only been in Nov and Dec. However May or Sept will prob avoid both the rain and the heat.

We have been in April, May, September and November several times each.

We prefer the beginning of May. The last time we went the last 2 weeks in September it was 107F and it rained on our last day.

In the evening we went to the Thomas and Mack Centre (part of Las Vegas university) to watch the Las Vegas Runnin’ Rebels v Wyoming Cowboys (Basketball match). $25 a ticket booked online back in England – was a great night out. Hot dogs, beer, all the pomp of the USA national anthem, cheerleaders, halftime entertainment and great basketball.

GAMBLING TIP – Roulette minimums vary but the cheapest I found was $3 in Caesars Palace at the video roulette table. It’s a real roulette table with a real croupier but you place bets on a video screen. Your money goes very far here and you can bag those drinks from the cocktail waitresses.

That’s my trip report – hope you find something useful in there!

    thanks for the report.

Have to agree with the sporting event. I have been to motor racing, Monster trucks, ice hockey and baseball in Vegas it is def something I would recomend for the reasons you give.

I think differently about the video roullette though, although the minimums are less, the spins are much more frequent and you dont get much time to think about your bets, there is also much less interaction between yourself, other players and the croupier, it takes away a lot of the fun IMO

For low minimum on a "real" table I think Casino Royale is the lowest at about $4 on the strip but best for lowish minimums coupled with best odds Stratosphere and Riviera have single zero wheels

cheers for the info, added to my notes ! :D:D:D:D
Seen Casino quite a few times, that and Goodfella's = Top movies!

Asked about check-in stuff, as i booked a flight(s) which have created a bit of panic for myself after i booked!
IE: We fly from Bristol with KLM to Amsterdam, lands on average between 8:30 to 8:45.
Then have another flight booked with US Airways to Vegas at 10:50...
So from landing, waiting for bus to terminal, then through customs/immigration or whatever it is, then collect bags, then queue to drop bags off with US Airways, just makes me think if i get to bag drop with 1hr to go, we should be ok i hope! :):)

Is it a through ticket, if so you shouldnt have any problem as even if you miss the connection (you shouldnt as 2 hours is plenty) they will put you on the next flight.

You will walk from where you land to the next gate and Amsterdam is huge but evem so it shouldnt take to long as it is set out very easy to navigate

Hey mate - yes you're absolutely right there - I did Casino Royale as well for quite a while one night. It's less glamorous and much more smokey than the giants on the strip but a lot more like the old style downtown look which carries a grittier feel!
It also tends to be quite busy as well and I spotted some real characters in there!

I didn't find anything cheaper than $4 min on the strip for single table roulette.

That is interesting - I did not know that...I like the monorail in certain circumstances but it's vastly overpriced...the only time we have used it recently was when we got 2-for-1 all day passes through a deal on their website...and I think in the end we gave the freebies away, but at least we felt like we got a deal...it does have limited uses to me, but for $14 for a 3-day pass, $28 each...it's in the realm of consideration for us.

Thanks for the TR - really enjoyed reading it and sounds like you had a great time...I would have been sweating terribly at the start though...sounds like the travel gods were in your favour at least at the end of the first part!

It also tends to be a long walk just to get to it!! I'm wondering if the 3-day passes were a Jan special available in Tix4Tonite but if not they do become a more viable option - especially if you're staying in a hotel directly connected to the monorail and not one that's actually over the road

    Photome -
Not a connecting flight, like the Div i am, i didnt do a search via expedia when booking for flights from Bristol to Vegas, just did from Amsterdam to Vegas, and then looked for a seperate flight to Amsterdam from Bristol!!!
(actually, i probably did do a search from bristol to Vegas, as well as london to vegas, and prices were probably still £800 plus, hence booking it seperately... i got a memory like a Siv!)

Not connecting, so if the 1st flight (KLM) messes up, then it would take a miracle or £££££ to get to Vegas! :(
I am going to email both airlines and ask if there is the option they can link tickets so my bags go through automatically from Bristol to Vegas.....
Not sure if they would do this though ??

If they're both KLM, they may be more inclined to help you out if one of their planes caused you to miss another one of their planes, but doubt they would link your ticket as it would increase the APD (from around £10 which you've paid to go to Amsterdam, to around £80'ish which it should be for travelling to Vegas?) which presumably they'd become liable for:

(PS> the above is just an assumption - i'm no expert!)
