    Re Flavors buffet at Harrahs.

I have said on here I wouldn't go there again after a disappointing vist last time.

    This just reaffirms it

Flavors, The Buffet at Harrahs received 14 demerits on a September 5th health inspection. Violations include pest control issues, improper food temperature, cross contamination of food, and faulty hot and cold holding equipment. This buffet now has a B rating by the Southern Nevada Health Dept.

There seem to be far less !!!!!! slappers on the strip. I think the authorities must have put a limit on the number that can stand in one place. There are only 3 on the sidewalk between Paris and Planetho, same amount between Bellagio and Cosmo, and probably the same outside Flamingo
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

We went twice during our recent trip and enjoyed it both times. I like the selection of salad, baked potatoes, pasta station etc. It's not high end, but I'd say it's about right for the price. I read about the demerits, but to be honest I don't know what an average amount of demerits would be....and I was also thinking they would probably be on their toes more after the inspection.

Also I had looked at seat prices a while back and to get a good view it was very expensive, I had looked at the deal and my guess they are the next to cheap seats for $33 and that is way back, and for bull riding all the action takes place up one end of the arena...so still undecided

That's a good point...I think we might do it anyway - just to go and see what it's like...it's not something we're fans of as such, just an experience we're unlikely to have elsewhere so just being there would be the thing for us. I think it would be likely we wouldn't even stay for the whole session - just quite keen on it...and we figure that if you caclulate what we might lose in the casino in the time we would be travelling to/from and there it's a very economical thing to do. :)

I understand what you mean about your last night though - we never, ever, ever plan anything at all our last day in advance...nothing. The day before we might decide something to do the last day but that's the extent of the last day pre-planning.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Talking of last days, has anyone got any tips on how they manage to get the most out of it? We usually get the Virgin afternoon flight at 1640 - so that means getting to the airport for about 1330 (?)

we always have a hire car and when we fly Virgin we normally check out of the hotel about 10:30 - go to the airport - check in and get rid of the checked luggage - then head back to the south Strip for a few hours, have lunch and a last go on the slots before taking the car back...only problem is last trip it seemed that Virgin changed the time check-in opens to noon from what we were told when it used to be 11...which is annoying as it means an hour less gap between checking in and dropping the car off.

I still think we will do it this way - but may have breakfast before checking out instead of lunch to off-set the shorter gap...not sure as it will be the first time since we knew about the change.

I like doing this as it means avoiding any sort of extensive check-in queue...when we get back to the airport on the rental car shuttle we're straight to security. I can see why some would think it's a bit bonkers though.

Luckily we get the BA flight at 9:15pm. We get a free late checkout at 4pm so have the whole day to do stuff. Get to the airport about 7. The real beauty of the late departure is that your body clock is already set to go to sleep in a couple of hours.

OK, looking for opinions on what to do in Las Vegas that will totally impress a 14 year old girl who is vegetarian, into black veil brides and generally loves being hard to make her jaw drop.

Within Vegas itself, please ( we're coming to Vegas via Sedona, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Bryce Canyon so she'll have done the scenery stuff ) She's been in a helicopter before, so that's off the list too.

Thanks in advance. Budget not too much of an issue on this one.:)
