I'd say it is, but maybe not on your first visit.

We went early March 2010 , it was quite a bit warmer than Vegas too. At that time we paid for the trip ($5or10) but got a free buffet thrown in.

Expect to be out of your hotel for about 10 hours, from memory it's 90 minutes each way...

nvh, glad to hear your wife is on the mend. You must be going around the same time as us - we go on the 1st (ie 2 weeks and 2 days for anyone who's not sick of my countdown :rotfl: )

I was just about to post the Paris buffet deal as I just saw an email about it. We've never been, as it sounds like it's French food and we're veggie I doubt we'd like it.

Pebbles, thanks for that about Vegas! The Show. Think we might try see it. Any idea of best place for cheap tickets. I'll also pm you about LVA.

We have been to Laughlin too - about 3 years ago maybe. It was actually alright. We drove down, google says it's 1 hour 35 but I somehow thought it was longer. It's very hot down there. We headed down there on a cloudy day in Vegas. We had shorts on and we stopped at Boulder City and it was almost chilly. Well about 20 degrees. This was early September, just a really dodgy day in Vegas, and also early morning. When we arrived in Laughlin it was cloudy and ok. But then the sun came out, it was very very hot. Hotter than Vegas and humid too. I remember going out the front of a casino and seeing the outlet mall across the street, but I couldn't bear to walk over to it. We shuffled back to the car via every casino and got the car to take it to the shops across the road!! And that was September, goodness knows what it's like in July!!

I think we went to Harrah's for lunch, but I have a feeling it the buffet was closed and we ended up at the other big hotel. Can't remember the name now.

The outlets weren't very good at all. I do seem to remember getting good drinks service in the casino, however I was driving so it was soft drinks only. It's really cheap to stay there, I recently looked up harrah's and we would have got a room for $8 with total rewards.

We've been to Laughlin twice but have driven ourselves both times...I personally prefer the freedom of doing so. I agree for a first trip it's not really worth doing but it's a nice enough side trip if someone wants to get out and about but go somewhere else with a cluster of casinos...and being on the water is nice...it is dirt cheap as lesley says...and it's not too much further to Oatman which is fun for a short stop.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • Restaurant.com have got $25 gift certificates for only $5 at the momen, I'm thinking of getting $100 of gift certificates which would work out at $20 which is only about £12.

Last time we went and treated our friend, (He treated us the time before.) if you showed you total rewards card, you got 50% off. Not sure if that's still available, but we got three tix for $125 when the regular price would have been much more. Our friend is in a wheelchair, so we couldn't go for the cheap seats, but the theatre isn't huge and most seats are good.
  • Just went to purchase vouchers off restaurant.com and tried to register, but it's asking for a zip code, so I just entered a Vegas one, but then further on its asking for full address and State etc, do you have to be an American citizen to register?

From the front page on this fabulous thread hun...

www.restaurant.com is a website which sells discount vouchers for eateries across America. For example, you buy a voucher for $10 which gets you $30 deducted from a bill of $60+. Keep and eye on this thread, as our regulars will post up the latest offers and passwords for the latest discounts - but you have to be quick as the most popular restaurants will sell their allocation very quickly. You must register with the website: use your own address, Nevada for the state and 89109 for the zip code. It doesn't have to match your credit card.:D

I wouldn't worry about the Paris buffet been "too French" with the food. Huge choice not just French dishes and the theming is really nice.

It's probably my favourite place for breakfast - and we've seen a lot of the lunch entrees come out .

Only problem I find with it is you usually have to queue.

Thanks! It was late at night when I posted that, and I just never thought to just read the front page! :D That's the zip code I put in, but when it just came up states, I wasn't sure if it was ok for UK citizens....but now I know!

ETA: Can you use more than one voucher at a time, and pay all in vouchers?
