There's the CSI Experience in the MGM, I don't know if it would measure up to the one mentioned above, but it's maybe something else to consider.

thanks - we've thought of the CSI experience a few times but reviews aren't great and it's a bit more of a go through the motions sort of thing I gather - it is something we would do but only if it was quite cheap I think...Mystery Adventures was (to me) absolutely brilliant...it probably tied with the otters at Roos N More for favourite thing I've ever done in the greater Las Vegas area...the reviews it had on yelp and TA would support the idea that a lot of people agreed with me...such a shame.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

No problem :) Sounds like it would have been something I would have liked too! It's a shame when these things close down, maybe wasn't getting enough business?

It always seemed somewhat amazing that they could survive, really...they had their 'office'/starting point...their bus to shuttle people from location to location...a few office/shops you visted to gather evidence and clues and any sort of tokens you were collecting...the two staff/owners...not to mention the cost of all the set-up/construction/dressing the locations...I know rent is cheap the locations they used - but with groups of 6-12 even twice a day (and if memory serves they only had a daytime group on weekends - the event lasted 2-3 hours) at $40/ticket (and there were coupons/Groupons out there) it just seemed like it couldn't make that much money in the end...always seemed a bit of a labour of love and a shame if it never took off enough to keep it running.

is that the room type that someone (I am blanking on who at the moment and struggling to find it) posted a photo of and the window is teeny-tiny and behind the bed or something like that?

They have changed the room names since this video, but is it this type of room?

That does seem very small to me if so.

That's the one ferf. I've seen people say that it would be OK for a solo trip, but a bit cramped for two people. I think it's only 350 sqft including the bathroom.

OMG that room is tiny. We had a spa suite both times we stayed there and it was double that size! I could handle that for a very short stay, but I wouldn't want to be there a week. Those rooms should be at bargain prices, not just $10 or so less!

We did the CSI experience and it was ok. I'm not a fan of CSI, but I do quite like investigative stuff. Basically you are allocated a crime scene then you go through displays of stuff telling you how to investigate, how dna works (in families), fingerprints etc. Then with all that info you should be able to go over and solve your crime. If I remember rightly you get a clipboard and you mark down everything you notice. I would possibly do it again (if I was a bit bored!!), but I'd be scared I got the same crime again if they haven't changed it. I sort of remember it though so could probably describe it (although I won't on here in case I spoil it for anyone).

That's music to my ears - I'll be there in 24 days time. Booked it a bit speculatively, so it's wonderful to hear such a recommendation.

I'll be there in three days' time so I am very excited to see such a positive comment :D

I also bought the Blondie's Groupon.

    So now we have

    Blondie's happy hour $10 groupon
    Gaetano's $40 for $20
    2 x Harrah's dinner buffet with drinks $36
2 x Yard drinks at Fresh at Planet Ho $21

    2/1 Silverton buffet
    2/1 Rio buffet
    2/1 GVR buffet
    2/1 Red Rock buffet
    2/1 Mirage buffet
2/1 Big Al's Comedy at Orleans

Also thinking about booking Zarkana before the deal ends on Smarter Vegas.

Had thought about Vegas! The Show - anyone seen it? Or we might see Legends again. It's one of those shows you can keep going back to.

We have a Grand Queen booked for MGM next year - Thomas Cook would only give the option of Grand King or Queen unfortunately so will have to see if we can upgrade on arrival.

If not the Grand Queen looks decent enough - has anyone stayed in one of these?
  • Wow, that room in the MGM....it's tiny! Looks so dark as well with that tiny window, and if that was the view I got, well, I wouldn't be very happy! I would say it would be ok for a solo traveller ora business person.

We've booked a Premium Fountain View room at PH. We were just going to book a basic room, but after watching numerous YouTube videos we decided that if we did, and we didn't get an upgrade via the $20 trick, then we'd be really disappointed if we got stuck in a small dingy room with no view, so like someone else said, book the room you'd be happy to stay in, and anything else is a bonus.

We like the MGM Grand, and always visit (we like the Rain Forest Cafe), so if we're looking for something to do, we might give the CSI Experience a try? :)

Just came across this website, I was looking for vouchers/coupons for places we are going to eat, shows we are going to see etc, and came across this: https://www.dinelv.com/shows/legends-in-concert.html There seems to be loads of different offers nd "freebies" I've never heard of this website before though?
