My trip report last month which had posted in bits
Now with photos and videos
Great report. A thought on why CW pax were unhappy with seating arrangements.
WT+ is a very small cabin and is ALWAYS overbooked, so the move people up to CW and sometimes have to split them up, we had that once and Tracy said that in future she would refuse the upgrade.
Knowing this we always just pay for WT+ tickets and because we are Silvers we get upgraded, guaranteed. We once got a double upgrade from WT+ to F.
The trouble now is that your lovely wife will never want to travel in Y again, so welcome to my world of wheeling and dealing to get in the highest class possible for the least amount of money. I even have to get the extra leg room seats when flying with Ryanair or Monarch lol.
If you want to fly from Amsterdam you can do CW for half the price of going from LHR.The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -
I remember the Spice Market Buffet being a really good buffet. Last time we went to it though it had moved - temporarily though during the Aladdin-Planet Hollywood changes. On that occasion we only had breakfast, and it was ok because it had decent fresh fruit which I like, but I've unfortunately recently only heard people saying it's not like it used to be. The groupon deal would seem like a good price, but it's not really getting the ratings.
I like Harrah's buffet (for what it is, I realise it's not Wynn/Bellagio standard), and the groupon deal for there is quite good. The reason I like it might be partly down to large salad bar, pasta station, and limited desserts. I'm quite sweet toothed, but trying not to be, so a limited dessert selection, especially with small portions of dessert is sort of a plus point. :rotfl:
I've got a LVA Mirage 2/1, otherwise I'd be hoping for the groupon deal to appear back for that.
I'd suggest keeping an eye out for other groupon buffet deals, unless of course you have been at Planet Hollywood buffet lately and still like it.
Never been to a buffet in Vegas before, never though there was much point, as neither of us eat that much, for some reason (probably the heat?), our appetite just goes. This time though, we've been looking at more places to eat, and want to try out a buffet....although that might be a different story when we get there!0 -

Then if you have a car drive out to the M resort. You won't find a better buffet for the money anywhere else, IMO, and wine and beer is included in the price. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. I loved reading this! You mentioned a lot of the places that we are fancying on going to....Kiss Crazy Golf, Mon Ami Gabi, Gold and Silver Pawn (lucky to meet Chumlee!), Rock Of Ages, and The Top of the World Restuarant. Sounds like you and your wife had a really lovely time!
I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you word your email to the hotel? I mean, did you ask them outright if there was any chance of an upgrade, or did you just mention it was your honeymoon? Did they have it on their system about your honeymoon already when you went to check in or did you have to mention it? When we go in September, it's for our honeymoon too, and I might try emailing PH.0 -
Your status has no influence on what flights you can get. Availability is the same for all cards except GGL where you can get on any flight that has spare capacity (for a hefty chunk of Avios though)
Gold card holders get additional availability in economy. There also get the help of the gold phone line where seats can miraculously appear!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. We use buffets a lot.
Of the 3 you mention PH and Harrahs are off our list as they were both poor on recent visits.
Mirage is still one of the best IMO.
Stoneman mentios M resort which is also good but a long drive.
Wynn/Bellagio are great but expensive0 -

Thanks for the great trip report but just feel I have to mention 'The Ugly' part about children on the strip. I agree in part as I would not drag my children up and down the strip but disagree that there is nothing for children in Vegas. My boys have been 5 times and loved it, like with any destination people need to do some research and should find there is plenty to do (may depend on age) . We have stayed off the strip in beautiful villas and had amazing family holidays. I have experienced Vegas both with and without children and they are very different holidays but both great in their own way. They have been to Disneyworld but prefer Vegas...
However my 15 yr old will not be going again until he is 21, it is not a place for 16-20yr olds!0 -

If you have never been to a Vegas buffet before then I would strongly suggest you avoid the Spice Market at PH as that could put you off buffets for life.
I tend to prefer a buffet for breakfast than dinner. However we had a couple of dinner buffets last trip which were excellent. I agree that Cravings at Mirage is excellent, especially if you like seafood. Even though I don't I still enjoyed it. Paris was also very good for dinner and breakfast.0 -
