I have a note on my Vegas spreadsheet (yes I am a nerd) that the closest Walmart to MGM Grand is on East Tropicana and would be around $14 in a taxi.
I love Walmart so much - I remember going to a huge one in Alabama (I think?) once and couldn't believe the massive Gun section they had, not sure if the Vegas one is the same but its crazy to see just what they can buy so easily.
Plus its fab for snacks, although I have to say I hate American Chocolate.0 -

Loving the spreadsheetI cannot believe the lethal things you can find when buying a loaf of bread
I too hated American chocolate. Then, I made the big mistake, for my waistline of trying Hershey Symphony. Heaven in a bar

You and me both. I have a cupboard full of Kraft Mac and cheese from Walmart
ha - me too! It's alarming how much the UK shops charge for that stuff...the online US grocery shops...I have found it in proper shops in the UK but it is NOT THE SAME...I picked some up in Australia once that was also not good.
Georgiegirl256 - Kraft mac & cheese is pretty processed (is powdered cheese you add to milk and butter)..it is pretty different thing to homemade (which I also appreciate very much)...to many Brits the Kraft stuff is not nice at all, so just beware it may not be your thing...but to many an American it is comfort food that reminds us of childhood.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

if I am being completely honest, I was the same until my mid-30s...I could not understand why one would go to the effort of making homemade...I get it now, different things entirely...and I love both...but...if I have had a bad day and I just want something quick for tea, nothing serves the dual purpose of cheering me up and feeding me like Kraft mac and cheese.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Everytime I read a tip, or see an interesting website it gets copied onto the spreadsheet, but given I've over a year to go its going to be pretty full! lol!
I think the only chocolate I liked last time, was peanut butter M&Ms - they were yummy0 -
Traveller - U get your Mlife card from the MLife desks in any of the MGM casinos...
I just quoted my name and they had my details, didn't need to give them my Mlife number!
As for LA (Santa Monica), well, we got as far as Primm, went to Buff Bills to grab Dennys Brekkie, massive queue, so then went to lotto place, I won (and gave away my winning scratchcard as queue was huge!), then went to the KFC/taco bell, got out of there, hit the road, and by the time we had done 100 miles from the strip, we got bored, so turned around and come back to go shopping!!!
picked up bags from Mand Bay, then went to Red Rock Canyon, roof down in the Stang!so Red Rock substituted our LA day!!
Next year, we will goto LA for 2 days, I will book in advance so I know we have to go!
Walmart supercentre - east Tropicana..... its big, we went a few times to stock up on a few things.....
They had some good deals on "Sweet Baby Rays" BBQ Sauces when we went, think I 1.8kg in sauces from Walmart to bring home!
1 good thing in Walmart is, I like to take "Centrium" multi-vitamins....
for $10, you get 130 tablets, where the same brand for 30 over here can cost u the same (or £6 even)0 -
Daisy spend some time over at flyertalk.com forums - things like converting hotel stay nights to miles and careful use of the "right" creditcard may very well help bring that NYC Christmas shopping trip a lot closer. IDine is another one to get him onto too.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Great report. A thought on why CW pax were unhappy with seating arrangements.
WT+ is a very small cabin and is ALWAYS overbooked, so the move people up to CW and sometimes have to split them up, we had that once and Tracy said that in future she would refuse the upgrade.
Knowing this we always just pay for WT+ tickets and because we are Silvers we get upgraded, guaranteed. We once got a double upgrade from WT+ to F.
The trouble now is that your lovely wife will never want to travel in Y again, so welcome to my world of wheeling and dealing to get in the highest class possible for the least amount of money. I even have to get the extra leg room seats when flying with Ryanair or Monarch lol.
If you want to fly from Amsterdam you can do CW for half the price of going from LHR.
already saving my airmiles/tesco points now for our next holiday to upgrade , plan to take kids to florida in to 20190 -

I hope you don't mind me asking, but how did you word your email to the hotel? I mean, did you ask them outright if there was any chance of an upgrade, or did you just mention it was your honeymoon? Did they have it on their system about your honeymoon already when you went to check in or did you have to mention it? When we go in September, it's for our honeymoon too, and I might try emailing PH.
googled mgm grand guest relations
email was roughly as followed
"we are coming to vegas to celebrate our honeymoon and have booked mgm grand, unfortunately after booking i realised that these would be the old west wing suites and really fancied grand tower (which is true i hadnt realised at booking), is it too late to upgrade my room now ive booked and paid as really want to make this special..~" they were lovely and replied they would ugrade us (We had nice view too)0
