Totally agree with your points regarding kids. However, i'm due to fly out on Sunday, to celebrate my 40th next Friday :). It will be me and my 4 kids aged 20,16,14 and 5. I'm slightly worried regarding the older two now, lol. The things we have planned are:

    Skyzone,
    valley of fire,
    overnight grand canyon,
    mob museum,
    score at the luxor,
    recycled percussion,
    Springs preserve,
    childrens lied museum,
    madame tausauds,
    cars museum at the quad,
    exposition park,
    ferrari cars exhibit-can't remember where
    dolphin habitat
    adventure dome
    outlets-primm, north,south
    galleria mall and two others
    wet'nwild
    Eiffel tower
    Stratosphere observation deck
    general walking of the strip
    3 days in LA
    Possibly a sun buggy tour
Possibly paddle boating in a lake mead resort

We are staying at the Signature and will use the MGM pool, although we are not really pool people. Do you think I stand a chance of not having a repeat of Orlando last year? They all looked like they were off to the dentist every time we went to Disney world :eek:although to be fair they did go there quite a bit when they were younger, before we went elsewhere.

My eldest chose not to come on that one. I assumed he wouldn't want to on this one. He claims as it's my special birthday he make an effort ;) He is a photographer by trade, so I'm hoping he'll be happy with the many photographic opportunities he will find.

I don't drink, or gamble, so we are all hoping to get the same out of everything. Also, how was the parking at wet'nwild and what did you all think of it?

We have been before, but when they were much younger (not the 5 year old though). We were also only there for two days as a side trip from Anaheim. This time, vegas is the main part and although LA is booked, we are slightly unsureif we will go-it's all refundable till the day before.

    Thanks :)

no problem with children in vegas, its just to have them in the right place not
1 being draged to see a fountain show at midnight while they are crying and want to go to sleep
2 running around the strip by themselves age 10
3 crying on the carpet by the slot machines while mum has a gamble while they are expectd to sit there playing on thier ds...

    Thanks for posting.

Interesting that you found first class so much better than business - we flew business both ways and on the return were on the upper deck (747?) and were very impressed with the crew and the quietness of the cabin. I am assuming that you don't have more than a bronze or blue card with BA so you were v lucky to get the flights??

Truely impressed with the hotel price you paid. We paid something like £600 for 4 nights in the Venetian in a room with strip view.

We did wonder how much the cabins cost, but decided that the extra spend didn't justify it.
first was just so much better in terms of service

i fetl business was just like economy with a nice seat, the food was average, the service was the same, didnt feel anywhere near as special
no no gold card was just airmiles to upgrade thanks to tesco

Traveller - U get your Mlife card from the MLife desks in any of the MGM casinos...
I just quoted my name and they had my details, didn't need to give them my Mlife number! :):)

most places will require ID as well...if someone already has an account then the ID will match and they will just print out a new card.

Some places are more strict than others, in our experience many require a passport and won't take UK driving licence or even US passport card...though it's been ages since we had duplicate cards printed at MGM...I'm sure when redeeming mlife stuff hubby had to have his passport.

edited to add I know some have had luck with colour photocopies of passports but we were knocked back the times we tried so gave up.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

this bothers me quite a lot...I don't notice it most places but it's terribly, terribly sad when we do see it...kids sitting just outside of the 'casino' property waiting for parents...I think that's just very wrong.

We went in 2006 and I didn't get this either :( There is enough to do as a family. Why come with the intent on NOT having family time-with your family :mad:These people also give parents that do care about there children, a bad name, as soon as you mention the Vegas, lol.

Maybe as a non gambler, I just don't get it- I'm too tight fisted to spend any money without a guaranteed return :D Luckily, buffets to me are like slot machines to gamblers, the kids can join in with that vice :D

I took my kids there when they were young, about 10 and 14, we did 3 nights having driven from California which was our base. We stayed in Circus Circus. Back then there seemed loads for them to do, the circus in the tent in CC, the Dome, the water park right on the strip, the Battle Ship show at TI was actually good then, the Volcano, the adventure park behind MGM. There was even a boat ride inside the Luxor. And at night we would just roam around looking at all the pretty lights and stopping off for ice cream and pizza, me and my then wife never put one dime in a fruit machine. That was my first time in Vegas and to this day almost 20 years later it still ranks as my favorite trip.
Since then my son, now 31, has had his first solo trip this year and loved it, my daughter 27, has been there working on a modeling assignment, and they both can remember that very first trip with fond memories. That is what makes being a parent so worthwhile.
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

Yes, agree. Unfortunately bad parents can be found anywhere :(

My two chose Vegas over Walt Disney World - they loved it when we went in 2011!

We'll be taking a trip to Walmart to stock up on things like that! I've never tried it before, but it looks nice from what I've seen.

I love processed food, and you cant get more processed than Kraft Mac&Cheese. Some of the package stuff isn't as orange as Kraft which says to me there must be too much goodness in them. The more orangy (is that a word?) the better I say.

I also buy lots of Crystal Light drink powder, the lemonade and ice tea flavours. I went a bit overboard last trip so sold a load on Ebay, knocking the pants off of the price of the competition and making a tidy profit as well. The stuff is $2.50 for a tube and people were selling it for £6

    OK then :(

Anyone who knows me on here also knows my son has been about 10 times from 4 to 16 ish.

He loved it but has now outgrown it until he is of legal age.

There are loads of things for kids to do

(traveller dont forget the pinball museum)

many are off strip and you do need a car.

My son loved doing anything with us because he was with us and he was interested in anything and everything.

There are bad parents everywhere but it seems that parents are "picked" on more in Vegas than anywhere else because many people think that kids shouldnt be there, full stop!

Knew I should have stayed out of it !!
