Best Mac and Cheese in Vegas for us is Macaroni Gratin side at MAG, closely followed by Magginanos
BTW Lesley, love the SMAC Facebook site, some tasty dishes there, especially like the seafood one.

If you want something to make your teeth bleed try candy corn, found around Halloween

A friend at work asked me to get this for her after she had tried it in Florida. I hunted high and low then was eventually told that they only stock it around Halloween. We were there in May.

I knew what candy corn was - but that will because we always go in September and we used to buy haloween stuff. No kids in the street since we moved, so we don't need haloween stuff any more. :( I used to enjoy making up the wee bags.

OMG just re-read that. 'wee bags' sounds like they could be sold on ebay along with stoneman's catheter. There was no pun intended....everything's 'wee' in Scotland.

ha - me too! It's alarming how much the UK shops charge for that stuff...the online US grocery shops...I have found it in proper shops in the UK but it is NOT THE SAME...I picked some up in Australia once that was also not good.

Georgiegirl256 - Kraft mac & cheese is pretty processed (is powdered cheese you add to milk and butter)..it is pretty different thing to homemade (which I also appreciate very much)...to many Brits the Kraft stuff is not nice at all, so just beware it may not be your thing...but to many an American it is comfort food that reminds us of childhood. :)

Thanks for the warning! :) I've also seen the Annie's one, which sounds good because it's gluten free. I'm being tested to see if I have an intolerance to gluten, and if I have, it'll be so hard, as I love pasta!

Where abouts are you from in America?

I'm not sure I'm going to be after the mac cheese, but I'm going to have a look for cake mixes - I bet they have some good ones.

Oooo yes, cake mixtures, never thought of that! :)

I also fancy that Crystal Light that stoneman mentioned, I remember seeing it on the American Apprentice, and thinking it looked really nice.

We always go in September/October time, and as I love Halloween, it's great seeing all the cool things in the shops! Im a big fan of B&BW, their Halloween stuff is awesome, and I especially like their pocket bacs.
  • I got confused between Walmarts and Walgreen before :o (yes, I know one is a big massive store and the other one is a pharmacy!), but I've checked, and Walgreens still sell the Mac & Cheese and Crystal Light, so it's ok!

    Re Walmart and other shops;

I bring back cake mixes especially the Supermoist Betty Crocker http://www.walmart.com/browse/baking/baking-mixes/976759_976780_1001368/?_refineresult=true&povid=cat976780-env250557-moduleB122012-lLinkFC2BakingMixes

I also but the cake sprinkles as they have some lovely and unusual one.

Chipotles and any other peppers (dried) I can find.

I also head to the pharmacy and buy things like painkillers and other medications that you simply cannot buy over the counter here like antibiotic cream. Also Cresta White Strips (still haven't used them!).

    Old bay seasoning.
    Fritos...I love 'em.

I'd bring more but need a bigger bag allowance and we've been travelling light lately.:(

I also stock up for my daughters, anything Wonka, Pop Tarts, Big Red Chewing Gum, Swedish fish, any of that kind of stuff...:D
