I may be wrong as I can't remember whats in these coupon books, but they probably just get given the ones that can be obtained for free... from memory they are quite chunky! :)

from memory, the coupon book you collect from Fashion Show Mall can also be used at the "Shoppes" ;) (you flip the book around to find them

Wish I had kept hold of it. It has discounts off dining, experiences etc as well as the shops.

Got back yesterday, stayed 4 nights at Southpoint and 7 nights Desert Rose. Won't bore you all with a detailed TR as didn't spend a great deal of time on the Strip.

Flights were from Manchester with Virgin, I liked the new touchscreen IFE, food and drink service as expected. Best landing I've ever had into Vegas, having the IFE continue after landing may have helped distract me but it was definitely the smoothest one.

Accommodation...I have stayed at Southpoint before and liked it, it has bowling, arcade and cinema for my boys (15 and 11). I wouldn't recommend for a first timer as it is a fair distance from the Strip. Desert Rose also suited our needs, apartments situated behind MGM. Thanks to Triker for the tips she gave me whilst staying there.

Food...did PH, Mirage and Aria buffets and have to say Mirage seem to be the best. PH was poor, all luke warm with a miserable waitress and I was expecting more from Aria but did get it free with Myvegas...Enjoyed a meal at MAG on our last evening, 3 starters, 4 mains, no alcohol it was $160 not including tip.

Managed to get Bruno Mars tickets at MGM, really enjoyed that. Boys did the new Waterpark, went midweek but still lots of queuing for the rides.

Best MSE day by far...3 buffet breakfasts, 4 cinema tickets, 2 popcorns, 4 dinner buffets at Aria (don't judge me for having 2 buffets in one day, I didn't eat much at breakfast...honest..) Total of ...$35 for everything!

Gambling for me was RUBBISH, worst I've ever done. I mainly play slots but enjoy poker and pai gow. Tried Lions share a couple of times, Megabucks, WOF but didn't hit them....OH kindly kept donating to my gambling pot as he seemed to do OK.

May take a break from Vegas, think this was our 13th trip, won't be taking my eldest again, he enjoyed it but will be 16 soon and Vegas is not good when you are that age!

Thanks to everyone who contributes all the advice and tips!

PH buffet is still up there among the best in the reviews but we tried it earlier this year (dinner) and were also disappointed and wont be going back.

Know what you mean about 16 year olds and Vegas, we took our son about 10 times between age 4 and 16, we have been the last couple of years without him (he doesnt mind, he went to majorca without us :)) and is off to Uni this year but is keen to go back to Vegas when he is 21 :)
  • For you myvegas players, here's a little piece about the guy who won the reward to choose the music for the Bellagio fountains

The good thing about Vegas is that if you have a bad experience (ie. a buffet), there's so much choice elsewhere on the strip, you need never go back! :)

We gave up on PH buffet years ago - their loss ;)

PH buffet has been garbage for years yet they still advertise it as the No1 buffet in Vegas. Breakfast is barely passable, but lunch and dinner are dire.

Yes we kept trying it as the reviews said otherwise, and I had a $5 off coupon, but it's not even worth that. In fact I think it was around $15 for breakfast last time we tried and this year it had rocketed to $22 or 23.

Picked up from elsewhere, but just in case people miss it, a new link for 1000 'gold coins' for MyVegas:

thanks for this...we've figure out our plan of attack but it requires me to get about 20k more gold coins (I call them that too...I get confused between the names otherwise) so this is quite welcome! :)

I thought rewards had to be redeemed within 90 days of getting them. Have I misunderstood that?

How long before a trip should you start trying to cash in LPs for rewards?

For the hotels and shows, redeeming them in the 90 days essentially means you have to make your booking, whether that be in a week or, as in our case, 9 loooooong months. Well, so long as they have the dates available.

The foodie and drinks ones you do within 90 days of redemption on MyVegas as no booking in advance is required.

    Hope that makes sense :)

So you can claim the reward ages before, but then wait until you are within the 90 day window to call to book?
