Oh right! Just seemed strange with the Dublin flight being on one day and then the flight out of Gatwick not being until the following morning. I got confused! Still, sounds very MSE!
On most transatlantic tickets you are permitted up to 24 hours between flights -this particular combination of times isn't bookable with all the flight companies (eg I can't get expedia to show it) but it's perfectly legal.
I've also used the stopover rule to my advantage at the other end. One trip - we flew from Vegas to NYC arriving at 9am in the morning -and the flight to London was 9pm so we had a full day in NYC before going home (it was fab-we did the Duck Tour and a leisurely lunch followed by a few hours in Central Park). Naturally we checked our luggage in for the London flight before going into Manhattan.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Sounds very canny Duchy
Is there some sort of system as well where you do US immigration in Ireland? Or maybe that doesn't work for this type of set-up. I only ask because when we flew to NYC last year from London City airport there was around 40 minutes stopover at Shannon airport, where the plane refuelled, and we all did US immigration - which meant that on arrival at NYC we didn't have to go through immigration, which was fantastic as it is always hours long. I wasn't sure if that was something they do at all Irish airports or if it was just a special thing for that route...
Ignore me babbling on anyway! We have never flown to Vegas but your way sounds very cunning and like a really good idea.0 -
Very good question - but no
As the flight you are getting is going to London -you can't clear US immigration at Dublin as that is only for flights from Dublin direct to the US....shame really-it'd be the icing on the cakeI Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Never mind!
Have you flown to Vegas lots? What's the airport there like? I have been there once to pick someone up and don't remember much about it. I have only ever driven into Vegas. This year, though, we are flying internally from Fresno international airport so I will experience McCarran as a passenger. Not that thrilled about it tbh - I love driving into Vegas and will miss it, but we just don't have time on this trip0 -
Stuie - did I read you went to see Chris Angel ? and if so what did you think ? we are looking at going using MyVegas.
Reviews are poor but so where Viva Elvis and we thought that was one of the best shows we have ever seen.
Not Stuie but Criss Angel was one of the MyVegas rewards hubby claimed for our trip in March...we really wanted to see it to see if it was as bad as the reviews say but didn't really want to pay much for it, so this worked out perfectly...we quite enjoyed it but went in with zero expectations due to all the horrible reviews...he is a bit annoying at times but overall for free it was certainly worth seeing, we thought...had we paid even $50 each I think we would have felt we paid too much.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

It's OK -A trek from some of the further gates but overall not bad. I find luggage can be a bit slow sometimes but overall pretty painless.
Flying out can be more of an issue than flying in as often security is backed up and you really do need to allow an hour plus to get through.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

It is -there are some amazing flight deals from Europe to USA and Asia and of course those extra legs often earn extra frequent flyer miles too !

a question posed at vegaschatter...
What Do You Do When You First Arrive in Vegas?we rarely go directly to Vegas (this year, the plan is to fly to Chicago for a few days, then move onto Denver and drive through to Vegas through the various national parks), and other years we have usually gone to SFO and driven down, however, I suppose something we typically do would be to call in some shops on the way whilst we're in the car - Town Square is our venue of choice lately
Suppose we'll then get to the hotel, sort our stuff out and then head off to somewhere random for food - as we tend to switch hotels mid-strip, and have never really stayed anywhere more than once (except Platinum which is usually mid-trip), then we haven't had chance to form a convenient routine
Now... what do we usually do on our last night would be an easy to answer question! We always head to Wynn, and sit outside in front of the Lake of Dream @ Parasol Down with a bottle of Champagne. This is typically preceded by a nice Steak meal somewhere (though venue for this is also usually subject to change).
Usually end up waking up with a hangover the next morning too0 -

What Do You Do When You First Arrive in Vegas?
we are absolutely creatures of habit...almost always arrive early to mid-afternoon...last several trips have skipped picking up the hire car straight after arrival instead taking a taxi to the hotel...shower, change and hit the casino...dinner at PF Chang's...and off to bed when ready. The next day we now pick up the car and head to WalMart for snacks/drinks for the room.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0
