Time to sort out hotels for the next trip.
J has never been to Vegas before......but J is keen to get married there so this trip is to make sure he really likes the idea and choose exactly where we're going to do the deed next year.
He really likes the look of the Orleans and wants to do a few nights there (at $30 for midweek and $70 for weekend I'm not going to argue) but also likes the look of Ceasars so I'm thinking - arrive Wednesday 2 nights at Ceasars ($20 tip and attempt to upgrade Palace to Augustus -has always worked before for me) move to Orleans Friday/Sat/Sun then move to the Cosmo in a terrace for the Monday and Tuesday nights. (Maybe move Sunday not Monday - not sure on that yet)
I know the Orleans will be a "drop" and should be first not in the middle but I'd like his first impression of Vegas to be a wow ....and the Cosmo is because I really fancy the terrace
Any thoughts ?I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
i'm doing things the wrong way round too!!
Mandalay Bay onto Golden Nugget onto Luxor!
oh and i picked a plane which has screens that pop down in the middle    to get us there!!!
Wont be any IFE reports from me!!!:wall:

I think that it's a good plan - yes it's a 'drop' but then if you have Cosmo at the end it's a jump back up...and with what you save staying at Orleans at the weekend you can justify the more expensive nights at the start and end.
I do really really love the terraces at Cosmo...it is just a very nice thing to be able to sit out there and watch the strip go by. admittedly we haven't done it for long but still - in the morning and the evening for a bit is a very nice experience. I put those rooms above the lakeview rooms at Bellagio for us - by far.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Any of u lot been to PRIMM ??
I was planning on checking out the Retail Outlets, North and South of the strip (the premuim outlets)...
But just had an email about another place called the fashion outlet of las vegas in Primm ??? Looks like its around 50 miles away from the strip... Is it worth me going there, or would it be the same shops/prices as the premuim outlet places on the south/north strip ???0 -
we like Primm - check the shops as there may be one or two that they do not have at the north or south outlets that might interest you...pretty sure that it's been mentioned that the Hollister outlet is worth going to if that's your sort of thing.

there's also a rollercoaster at Primm- Desperado - that was at one point the tallest or fastest (or both) in America*. It's evil...but might appeal to some who like evil roller coasters.
*edited to add
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desperado_%28roller_coaster%29
It features a 60-degree, 225-foot (69 m) drop; a 209-foot (64 m) lift hill; and top speeds around 80 mph. On the 2 minute, 43 second ride, riders will experience almost 4 Gs
that 60-degree 225-foot drop caused days of pain as I was looking down and I think the force of going over pushed my head farther forward than nature intended.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Re: Orleans - I dont think it would have been on our list of places to stay the first time we went, nor would it make it on to it because of location & reliance on transport schedules etc... HOWEVER if I was going with someone who's stayed there before (such as yourself), I wouldn't rule it out so quickly
Re: Primm - for us, it's never been worth a special journey but we have been a couple of times as we've been passing by. Whenever we have been, we've whizzed around in no time and end up just calling in Hollister, however we prefer to just go the proper Hollister @ Town Square as they usually have some decent sale items in0 -
SOLD!! The mention of a R Coaster always gets my attention!
Cheers for info....
Way i see it is, we gotta check into Golden Nugget on Saturday (say we get there at 12...) Its memorial wkend, the hotel is already fully booked, so my guess is the pool will be rammed, no chance of sunbathing, so i reckon roof down on the car, drive the Blvd south route to Primm, do the coaster twice and see what the shops are all aboutthen hit the premuim outlets on way back....
Sunday were off to Santa Monica/Tourist spots in LA for the day, so i guess i'll be using the I-15 for that....
Ohhhh, reading up on the coaster now, wifey not gonna be impressed! haha!!!0 -
I was going to ask if you were going to LA - thought you had mentioned it..Primm is on the way, though suppose if you have a full day in LA stopping on the way there or back doesn't make sense.
I agree with nvh that it may not be worth a special trip just for the outlets - we like to go for the casinos too...just for something a bit different than Vegas for a morning/afternoon...we usually grab breakfast at one of the resorts...it's a nice side trip but wouldn't suggest anyone go JUST for the outlets.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
Been to primm 3 times, and never seen the coasters moving.
It's a very small shopping outlet.Just consists of one circle of shops.
We have always bought daughter jeans from Hollister there...$19.99 a pair.
Staff in Levi's shop are very good, they make sure you are happy with purchase, even managed to get a couple of pairs myself.
American eagle has good bargains, also Ralph Lauren has some great deals.
So while its not a big place, you can get some nice stuff very cheap...Worth a visit in my book.0 -
Oh and don't forget to wander over to the little white building that stands to the right of the shopping mall, its actually in California,So they sell the powerball lottery tickets there. We were told it was a $142 million jackpot the time we were there.....suppose it would have paid the credit card bill when we got back.0
