Right then peeps, think i am about to book my trip today !! :D:D:D
Little daft in the way its gotta be done, but budget is £700 each, so have to juggle!

Plan is: Fly from Bristol to Amsterdam
Then from Amsterdam to Vegas (via Philly with US Airways)
    10 nights in the Excalibur (22nd may - 1st)
Back to Amsterdam with 7hrs to kill there... then back to bristol
cost: £701 (compared to £848 if flying from London with 1 stop)

    Anyone been to Amsterdam ?!

ahhhhh... Done some reading, would appear flying with US Airways would be like with Ryanair... no IFE, or if there is, a shared drop down screen! :(
shame the Delta flight is more expensive!

Thought I'd ask this here, as you guys are very well traveled.

I know the $20 sandwich trick works well in LV, but does it work in other US city's?
We'll be having 3 days at the Omni in LA, is there any point trying it there? Also our flight doesn't land until 19:30 on a Friday night, so by the time we get there it'll be 9ish so I'm guessing they might be full by then?

If you go with Delta via Amsterdam it is likely it would be a KLM flight from amsterdam to the hub and you wouldnt be gtd IFE on there depending on which aircraft you got, I have had a 747 half passanger half cargo that was as old as the hills

Dont think i would be paying £700 to do the route you are taking though it will take forever especially to get home.

there are some nice comfy seats at Amsterdam tho

Our US Airways flight had seat back TV on the transatlantic leg. The cross country ones don't usually have them.

Can you get to any other airports?

DUB - LAS on your dates from Ireland with one change in Chicago is £495pp for the flight with American Airlines. You'd need to book hotel separately though...

The Platinum now has a grocery delivery service. Prices look OK considering you are having stuff delivered to your room and put in the fridge for when you arrive http://grocery.theplatinumhotel.com/
We have just booked for our 2 trips this year at $120 a night for. Princess suite. (That's the one with the washing machine if SM wants to add it to the front page)

Good to see you have 2 trips booked. I emailed the contact at Platinum in about November when we booked, and he came back with a price which wasn't really very good, however said if there were any discounts we could have our rate updated as time goes on. I can't remember the exact rate, but it was maybe $30 or so more than yours. I think maybe I should email back for an update. When are you going out of curiosity? We are going in September, and asked for a rate for a full week (so we have weekend nights in there too).

US airways are absolutely fine. We fly with them most years. One advantage of flying with BA is the free booze, however I don't really drink when travelling anyway.

I don't really understand why anyone would compare it with Ryanair to be honest. You get the same luggage allowance as BA, you get films, and I'm pretty sure you have your own screen. That said, no films on the domestic (philly to vegas) flight - but it's not a long haul flight so not really needed.
