Have now caught up with thread. One OUT to report - predictably it's the Clairol Root Touch Up kit so today I wake up with no grey hairs. Will no doubt have to re-colour my hair in about 4-5 weeks' time.

I also repainted my nails last night and am now wearing OPI I'm Not Really a Waitress.

Was going to go to the cinema today but have decided I can't be bothered as it's so cold outside (have nipped out already to feed the bunnies) and I can't see the sense in sitting in a cold cinema when I can sit in my warm house instead.

Think I'll find time to de-fuzz my top lip and wrap cellophane around my feet!
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

    Morning all.

Good news about your son noel.

The aldi oil does look very tempting doesn't it?

    Have a uu

Dove colour conditioner - this was the little one that came with Marie Clare in autumn. WBA as I generally like Dove products.

DH also finished his No7 face scrub, this isn't part of my stash but it is another item out of the house.

I got really bored with S&G in general and especially the shower gels. They are nice as hand wash though.

I know what you mean, i use another one now and then but i love how soft it's made my dry skin so try to stick with it :) I was bought one of the large boots sets 2 christmases ago and still have the big tubs of scrubs and body butter =/ No idea when i'll get through them, i think i might try and sell the unused ones on or it'll be 2015 by the time i'm halfway through my stash :rotfl:

1 UU to report - partner's nivea for men shower gel. Smells nice, WBA if on offer, but he has plenty of lynx shower gel from christmas now to see him through!

Out of my 10 TAs they consisted of hair products. Charles worthington, cheapo heat defence spray, old hairspray and several other products which haven't seen the light of day for about 3 years

I'm on a massive clearout mission when it comes to everything in our house, not just the toiletries :rotfl:. My 6 month old go so much for christmas, and we don't have much storage in our house so i'm planning on clearing all the cupboards, making room and making some extra cash for unwanted items :D

Well done roguelawyer. I too wandered into Boots yesterday but didn't buy anything. Mind you there didn't appear to be much left in our store. Why 88 days to go?

I've set myself the challenge of not buying any toiletries at all for 100 days. Having looked at the stash, 100 days seems about right to use up some key items, and as I tend to slip in the odd unnecessary thing with the necessities it seems worth giving it a shot. If i can last the 100 days i should have used up all my cleaner, toner, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and then I will buy myself a treat.

Welcome Cas and good luck with your weight loss plan. I'm also a member of the Weight Loss thread on MSE and they seem to be as friendly as the ladies on this thread. Have lost 2lbs in my first week so v. pleased. If anyone is looking for recipe inspiration I heartily recommend The Hairy Dieters book.

Cosmetic bags is something I am drowning in as I've gained a few with the Elemis goodies I got at Christmas however I do love it when this happens. Happened to me yesterday in M&S. Picked up a pair of jeans that were marked down from £29.50 to £14.00. Got to the till and they were £11.00. Doesn't beat the best bargain of the sales for me though which was my Clintons haul. Got 10 x pack of 10 Christmas cards, a calendar and 2 x "special" Christmas cards (which should have been £5.99 each!) for £7.50!

well done on the weight loss. I started with WW online in mid October last year and had lost 16.6lbs by Xmas. I put a couple of pounds on and haven't got back into the swing of it properly since. I started going to meetings yesterday though (along with most of the local female population and one brave male, going by the queue!)

How many Xmas cards do you usually send/give? It would take me years to use 100! I couldn't find a nice 'special' one for my son this year so didn't bother as I thought he wouldn't be bothered either way. He looked so upset when I told him on Xmas eve that I ended up driving round lots of local shops untll I found one with 'son' on! That was the only card I gave though. :o I did make a donation to charity and sent an email to my colleagues to tell them I'd done it though - cost a lot more than cards would as I already had loads in, but it was for a good cause. :D

Hello, can I join too please [steps forward shyly]. :hello: I’m always nervous about joining threads given some of the nastiness that appears on other threads. It’s taken me a week to read this one and it’s so lovely and warm because everyone is so friendly!

Welcome to the gang, Cas. No nastiness here!
I don't post much but read every now and then and post on the odd occasion. I've found everyone friendly and supportive and fun. Hope you enjoy being 'one of us' and getting rid of excess toiletries along the way!

I'm too scared/lazy/disorganised to count my stash!

Me too. I feel like I've got it under control but need to do an inventory still. Bit scared in case I find I have more than I expected!! :o
  • Hello everyone - time to properly catch up to this thread. HELLO NEWBIES! Welcome. I am technically a newbie myself as I've only done this challenge for less than 6 months.

Just a quick friendly reminder. Our Christmas swap did not go through this year, but there was interest in an after Christmas/unwanted gifts/stash clearing out swap. There is talk of it over at our facebook page. If you are interested, please PM me and I will send you the link.
The rules are the same as before with a little tweaking. The first thing we decided to tweak on is the amount. It was £5 minimum (not including postage), but that was just a minimum so that everyone could play. What ended up happening was that people were then sending free hotel samples only, so to prevent this we are saying that you are welcome to send anything you want for your friend, but please keep in mind that hotel samples should be "add-ons" and not all of the package :) Any questions or comments about that, please don't hesitate to PM me :)
We also have talk about raising the amount from £5 to £10 as the minimum, but no decision has been made. Please come join us over at our facebook page to join the conversation. I think this swap is going to be a BIG ONE!!!! :)

  • As for me, last month and this month has been challenging. My hoarding problem has increased tenfold, because now I am getting beauty products from my job as free, so I don't have the guilt of spending the money, but that's not helping my hoarding at all. Instead I find myself hoarding more because it's free and my DH just told me that enough is enough. I have off of work today so I'm doing a bit of a clean through and I'll have loads of GA's soon so that I can get my bedroom back. WISH ME LUCK :)

UU: Lush space girls - love the parma violets in this!

Our local SW group meet in the church hall opposite my house on Monday evening, all of our road was completely full of cars on Monday with people joining, does beg the question though - could a lot of those people walk there?
