Hello, can I join too please [steps forward shyly]. :hello: I’m always nervous about joining threads given some of the nastiness that appears on other threads. It’s taken me a week to read this one and it’s so lovely and warm because everyone is so friendly!
I have lots of full sized bottles of shower gels, shampoos, perfumes, etc and goodness knows how many samples! Not going to count them since I've got to the stage that there’s no more space in our bathroom :embarasse so I really need to use up what I have rather than keeping buying new! Lots of splutters so hopefully will have some good news to report shortly.
Actually this is the year of action! OH and I have far too much stuff and since it’s unlikely they’ll ever designa house with elasticated sides we need to buckle down, have a clear out, stopspending so much money and start using up what we have! Also need to lose the 1½ stones I’vegradually put on since we got married 12 years ago and get myself a bit fitter in the process. Can't wait to get back into some of my clothes that have been relegated to the back of the wardrobe!!
Welcome! I found my toiletries addiction ramped up a notch when I dieted a few years ago (I lost just over a stone as well, and bar a pound or two I've kept it off) but all those lotions will come in handy when you have to keep yourself occupied.
Another tip is to make a list, when you clear a small space to do it in. It could just be I'm a great big nerd but I love playing with the spreadsheet and trying to focus what I'm going to use next/how long things will last/how much money I can save. It's a good way of keeping me occupied at times!0 -
Thank you rogueylawyer! I like my spreadsheets, I've got one for the freezer contents, money, weight, etc and I will need to do one otherwise I'll never really know how much progress I've made.
I've struggled with my weight since I started working 25 years ago and I blame it on the obligatory bun runs! Managed to lose 3 1/2 stones before so I know I can lose 1 1/2 stones. It feels like as I've got older I've forgotten what willpower is! :rotfl:No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.0 -
1 necessary IN today. Aveda Pure Abundance Style Prep. Recommended to me by lovely people here, many weeks ago local Aveda salon gave me a very generous sample size when I bought the hairspray from the same range, it is great and I have enough for only another couple of hair washes. I could have saved £3 or £4 if I had bought online, but the salon owner was kind enough to give it to me and I want to suport our local businesses, so my aim for 2013 is to buy less stuff, but to buy as much as I can of "needs" locallyThe best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. I'd do a list too! It's so handy knowing just exactly what i've got. For example i have 7 bars of soap...we barely use it as we've got shower gels coming out our ears! It's also fun just to see how much you've accumulated over time too0

List it is then! That'll be tomorrow task. Tonight's is clearing out my magazine pile - toiletries aren't the only things I hoard!! :rotfl:No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.0

Got another UU to report:
Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub. I would buy this again, I love the smell of it, and it left my skin feeling very soft, but I have other stuff to use up first and still no INS to report this month. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2013: Start 112 items 01/01/13

No more toiletries/make up until I've used what I've got stashed since Jan 2011, graduated October 2012. Restocked Dec 13..damn those sales0 -
For anyone who feels like being experimental and using up unloved soap to make Laundry Gloop, I've just re -added the recipe and method I use to the Gloopy Thread.
I get very good results with gloop, but I'm lucky enough to also live in a soft water area which helps.
Noticed that Ald! have some good specials on toiletries tomorrow. I shall struggle, but will ignore.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -

You've just 'made' me look and I've seen these:-

I'm wondering whether it's worth me trying one for my present skin problems but how many products do I have to try before I find one that actually works? More to the point, does such a product actually exist?
Having said that, for £3.99 it might just be worth a go. Can presumably use it as skin lotion or bath oil if it doesn't suit me.3 stone down, 3 more to go0 -
i have two INs: two sample bottles of the Touche Eclat foundation. Ive already had one of these but whilst the promotion was on again thought id get another. got one of the same shade i had last time and one thats not quite so pink. think i may buy this once my stash has gone so tbh, i want to make sure i get exactly the right shade!0
